Problems transferring unprotected AAC files to MTP device
I keep getting an incompatible file type error when trying to transfer songs to my sony walkman using songbird .5 that have been imported to my library using itunes (unprotected AAC files). These files are compatible with my device, and transfer without issue using other programs such as Winamp.

Inappropriate?danwc,
What platform you're running on?
Can you upgrade Songbird to 0.6.1 version?
This should update your MTP Device Support add-on to the latest version as well.
After that try to add the files you having problems with.
See if it's fixed, if not, reply here. -
is this topic still being monitored as it doesn't seem to be resolved in 1.0 despite it being marked as such -
Inappropriate?I'm running vista, i'll try upgrading and seeing if it still does it.

Inappropriate?I have this trouble too, just installed 0.6.1 fresh and m4a files still wont transfer. The ones I already have on my walkman seem to also show up as "other" and not "music" files. Curiously m4a is not included as the list of supported file formats when pressing the button above the device information on the sync settings screen.

Inappropriate?I'm still getting this problem on V1. Im trying to sync a creative zen and i am getting the same 'incompatible format' error on all my AAC files.
although "The company marked this problem solved.", it isnt for me :-(

Inappropriate?I have the same issue with m4a files. They are definitely supported and will work if copied manually!
I could be wrong but it seems that all devices which support aac also support m4a but do not necessarily list them in the mtp info. Would it not be possible to simply say that aac=m4a

Inappropriate?Same here with my sony walkman - mp3 sync fine but .m4a don't. Why is this thread marked as solved?.
If you rename them to .mp4 they can sync fine using the mtp plugin but lose the id tags in songbird :-(
As mentioned earlier it doesn't seem to realise the Sony supports aac/m4a as it's not listed as a supported file type on the properties page of the device (within songbird).

Inappropriate?Having this trouble on the Samsung P2 as well. Device info does not show AAC at all, though the device supports it. Can't sync unprotected m4a due to unsupported file error.

Inappropriate? Why is still a problem after 11 months?
My Nokia N81 8GB has full support mp3 and aac but in songbird, only the mp3's are synced.
Any help?

Inappropriate?I dumped songbird 6 months ago because of this issue. I've just tried the latest (1.2)and sad to say it's still doesn't work.
Surely a sony is not exactly an obscure player and should work?
I'll try again in 2010....
I’m sad

Inappropriate? This is just sad, not that I know but is it hard to just support .m4a files? I have been stuck using the completely crappy Nokia music for the past few months and last week discovered DoubleTwist which works (but is not as flexible as songbird)
This is the 1st time I've started songbird in a month but still have no use for it as it doesn't sync properly
