Proposal: unskinned mode "Songbird Naked"
Is there a possibility of an unskinned feather or mode that just uses plain default windows OS window, title bar, border etc.? One of the things that's so bloated about itunes and quicktime is the skinning of the interface.
I also agree with this guy’s comment that for something trying to differentiate itself It’s trying to look too much like Itunes. http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/t...
I mean there are some nice skins and people have done a good job on but I prefer a no frills look. It would be even lighter on memory. One of the things I detest about skinning and this goes all the way back to Winamp and the like is the annoying ghosting effect of skins. When you move the window it’s as if the skin graphics can’t catch up with the window code underneath fast enough. I say you should add a skinless mode as a feature. And not just a skin with graphics that fakes the look of windows. Specify no skinning or graphics save perhaps some of the internal buttons and allow the program to use the actual rendered native windows interface. You could call it "Songbird Naked" or "flightless bird" or something cute like that. It's not pretty it just works. Think about it. Some people might consider this boring but I think a lot of people would prefer it more lightweight like this.

Inappropriate?I agree. I was really disappointed when I first installed Songbird and found that it had no way to disable skins. It's based on Mozilla so it should be able to do skinless mode...
I'm opposed to the very idea of a skin. Your OS should already look the way you want it to. Why would each program have a separate skin?
It would be like every wall in your house had to be independently painted, but the colors had to be mixed independently and they could NEVER be uniform.
Or if every button or switch on your car looked different, based on how the designer of that part thought it should look. -
Inappropriate?I think that the team should focus better OS integration in a release. I run Songbird in OSX and it has some oddities. Its default skin looks very good in OSX, but it could still match better, such as using the standard scrollbars and the highlight color of the operating system.

Inappropriate?I posted a feature request on Bugzilla for native-looking default feathers in Songbird: http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show...

Inappropriate?I am an Ubuntu user and since Songbird does not have the ability to use system default skin none of the desktop effects work with Songbird. Setup like Firefox. Users download with system default skin. The user could then download skins if they want it to look any different then their system setup.
I’m happy
