Refresh/update of library content?
Refresh/update of library content?
I would like to be able to change folder names etc, on my drive where I keep my music files, and then be able to update my music library in songbird. When I try to do so, the songs are still displayed but they can't be played - most likely since the pathway to the file has changed.
I.E. I have several folders in my "Music" folder on drive J:\.
Let's say that I want to change the folder name "J:\Music\crap\" to "J:\Music\sorted crap\".
All the songs in the folder "J:\Music\crap\" have already been added to the Songbird library by the function "File >> Import Media". After changing the folder name to "sorted crap", I want to refresh my library in Songbird. How can I do that? How can I get it to work?
How can I have songbird keeping track of changes in my Music-folders?
I experience the same problem as in iTunes - it is impossible to get rid of songs that no longer are valid due to changes in folder structure. Even worse, I can't even add the new path since Songbird seem to ignore duplicates (the files under the new pathway are added later and therefore they are ignored!?).
Someone help me out please!

We're going to get this functionality covered in our next release. See our development plans for the Watch Folders functionality at http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Releases..., and the specific storyline around this functionality at http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show... Is this going to take care of what you need?

Inappropriate?I was able to delete the songs from the library and then do an import to get the correct ones back in. It's manual, but it worked.

Inappropriate?Well... That is probably one way to do it but then it is kind of useless having a huge software handling your media catalogus, instead I could use a small application that just plays my fils on a double-click.
And one thing I don't want is the stupid way of how iTunes handles your media if you choose to let iTunes change the catalogues etc - then it renames every single file totally into some technical names.
Preferably, I am looking for some kind of software that hashes your media content from several folders and by doing a refresh of the hash, it updates the catalogue in the media player library...
If something like that is constructed for the Songbird software, then I will start using it.
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?I wish the same as slicky-ricky. Now for play some new downloaded album is:
1- Copy that to MP3 folder
2- Open Songbird and Refresh manually the library (slow)
3- Search and play the album
The 2nd should be automatically -
How do you manually refresh the library? -
