Remote Control support through lirc for linux-users

Other media-players that I use with ubuntu like amaroK and vlc have a good lirc (linux infrared remote control) support. Is it possible to add lirc support to songbird, too? I couldn't find anything about songbird and lirc in the roadmap or elsewhere in forums and other hotspots, so I thought it's worth asking here, if you are allready working on it and i couldn't find it, or if just hasn't been a topic till now.

Besides that, songbird really is my favorite music-player since I discovered it. thanks for your good work.
