Rescanning library without deleting from library first
How can I rescan changed meta data on files without deleting them and re-importing them into the library? I would like to preserve the ratings I have on all my songs.

Inappropriate?Rescanning of libraries is not yet implemented but will be in a future release. In the meantime, delete + reimport is the correct method.

Inappropriate? The lack of this feature was the reason that made me uninstall the program. With a large library spread across several network drives deleting and importing again is just not an option for me.

Inappropriate?Pity, I wish I checked online before... just spent the last 20 mins looking for the functionality.

Inappropriate?Yeah I am so disappointed it wasnt included in the first release! I find it crucial for a media player to have that function. Until it's implemented, I cannot use it. Deleting and rescanning manually EVERYTIME I add new music is TOO time consuming!

Inappropriate? And what about http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Docs/Pow... ? Songbird tweets about this:
songbird.commands.enableRescanItem (default: false)
Songbird can rescan existing media items to reset any metadata fields in the file to the values found there. This is useful if your metadata import job cancelled for some reason or if you like to edit your files using an external tag editor.
