Retag all your tags in files with the tags in Songbird db?
Is there a way (by mean of an extension for instance) to go through all your library and apply the metadata stored in the Songbird database to the files themselves?
It seems that a lot of problems are reported about the data not being written correctly to the file, but ok in the Songbird db.
Thanks
Olivier

Inappropriate?not that i know of, but i've proposed an idea that would let you create a play list (the now playing play list) and drag and drop a tag on it: thus tagging the items.
My request (Here: http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/t...) for a new playlist item, which is a list of items YOU want to play, but it aslo points out some more flexibility with these playlists such as a a 'mass tag' or 'mass rate' as your asking.
I’m happy to help

thanks for your idea.
My concern though is more about the annoying discrepancy between the tags in the Songbird DB (everything seems ok on the Songbird screen) and the actual data which is being written (or not) to the files...
I'm talking about MP3 files of course, and often, when doing mass tagging using the "select many tracks + Edit metadata" feature, the data is not actually written on all selected file.
So when you want to use the MP3 file elsewhere on your MP3 device, or when you want to reimport your library in a new Songbird profile as I did it yesterday, what a bad surprise to see that all your tagging work has been lost because the tags had not been written to the files.
Hence my request to have a mean to force the rewriting of all songbird tags to the files, in one shot, for the whole library for instance (or selected files, or a playlist, whatever!) -
Inappropriate?Hey klint,
I assume you referring to the Metadata Tools extension not saving to the file... I was trying to think of a workaround too, and (i havent tried it yet) i thought of Vandelay ... It has a "Save all" metadata to the file option, nd im pretty sure that will work... I dont think you actually have to "use" the add-on to use that particular feature, cause i checked it by accident once assuming it meant all the files i had selected, but what it really does is save your WHOLE library files to the metadata.. interesting.. but ya, i havent tested it in the Artist > Album Artist thingy-ma-jigger from the Metadata Tools add-on, but its worth a shot...
I’m interested to see if it works...

Inappropriate? Thanks for the hint, I'll definitely try that.
Actually, my concern is that it's not only the Metatdata tools that fails in writing data to files, but sometimes (not reproducible though) I feel that even simple Edit on a file in Songbird, or on a bunch of MP3 files, won't write all data in all files... but maybe I'm wrong and that is just a false impression. -
Inappropriate? Those don't seem to be a solution for the problem.
What I really would need is something to write down all the track numbers, album and song titles. 'Quite sure that the export to iTunes (stupid iPhone...) will work properly then.
I’m not yet satisfied
