SB hangs at 'identifying and removing duplicates'.
Whenever I try to import a folder into the Library (via drag and drop or using 'scan for media', it gets to 'identifying and removing duplicates' and stays there, regardless of how many files are in the folder. Version: Songbird/0.6.1 (20080623082011) (2008061211) on XP SR2.

Inappropriate?How many files are you trying to import. This stage can take quite a while depending on library size. For example, with a library of 10000 files, we full expect the resolving duplicates phase to take approximately 2 minutes (depending on the specs of your computer and other running apps).

Inappropriate?In addition to this, there has been a dramatic increase in performance for importing media in the recent 0.7.0rc1 build. You should go to developer.songbirdnest.com to try it out.

Inappropriate?0.7rc seems to fix my problem. Was able to import 2 albums in seconds (which used to hang). Am now trying to import whole collection.

Inappropriate?I'm using 0.7 on OS X 10.5.2. I have about 30,000 songs. Songbird has been "Identifying and removing duplicates" for 24 hours now. I started trying to install Amarok instead from fink. That takes about 24 hours of compiling, all kinds of arcane error messages, I finally gave up, though their irc support was a great community. I guess I just have to wait until 2009 to see if Songbird improves or if Amarok ever releases a packaged .app.

Inappropriate?I also have the same problem - except i am using songbird 0.7, this is the first time i have had a problem since version 0.3. I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling, then when that didn't work i tried uninstalling then deleting all the registry entries with "songbird in the name" still dosn't work. I can't remember if the problem first occured when i upgraded to V0.7 or after my computer crashed while songbird was running. Either way it was working, then i lost my library and i can't get it back.
I'll have a go reverting to 0.6 then back to 0.7 and see what happens. I only have 1400 songs and songbird fails to import even a single folder with only 10 mp3s.
Its been horrible having to go back to itunes. -
Inappropriate?Ok just tried v0.6.1 with no luck. It scanned through the files and then got stuck looking for duplicates, whereas in 0.7 it just goes straight to.... well nowhere. I checked the windows resource monitor and i looks as though songbird isn't doing much - almost no cpu usage, no disk activity and the memory usage was constant.
I'm hoping when the new version comes out it will remove this problem. Do you think installing an early version with a different library storage system may work?
