Slow Performance
I love songbird alot, except for its speed. I have a pretty new HP machine running vista with good specs. It would be great to have a significant speedup, mainly in the time it takes songbird to load.

The songbird team is actively working on Songbird performance. Each progressive release seems to get significantly faster.
Probably the biggest performance boost will occur when the Firefox 3.5 code is merged though. Firefox 3.5 adds considerable speed enhancements to XUL and normal websites. Since Songbird uses Javascript/XUL/web technologies for mostly everything, it should also get a speed boost :D -
Inappropriate?Im running Songbird under Debian Lenny and I have a huge loading time, when filtering the library. The program seems like hanging for like 10 seconds and then the filtered library is shown.
I have about 18.000 items. But I think the size shouldn't be a problem.
Does this problem occur on Windows too or do i have a problem with my PC?

Inappropriate?A few weeks ago I found this bug on Bugzilla http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show... which once fixed should significantly improve the library's response. From what I can gather that bug is the reason songbird is slow on the Library side of things.
Personally I find the the 1.4 beta is allot more responsive for me on Windows, but with video been added for the 1.5 I'm guessing that they will be fine tuning everything on songbird to be able to cope with it. -
Inappropriate?That bug is actually just for fixing the regression that popped up when the long-wanted Bug 6704 was implemented on the 1.5 branch. So you probably won't be seeing much performance increases from that bug in particular (in other words, that one is just making sure it doesn't get worse).
But Wladimir Palant is super focused on performance right now, so you'll be seeing good things come from him...
