Slow Performance with 500gb WD Essential External HD
Slow performance with my 500gb WD Essentials external hard disk. I've got 99.2gb, about 24,361 mp3's. I've just recently switched to Ubuntu 8.10, I've been using TeenSpirit (http://teenspirit.artificialspirit.com/) and it for me it's the best player but unfortunately it's for windows. Please try using teenspirt and see the difference.

2gb kingston DDR2 667
Intel G31 chipset(on-board vid card)

Inappropriate?I suspect the root of my problem could be the same although my collection (which is about the same size) is NFS mounted.
SB has managed to freeze my ubuntu (mint) system.
