Inappropriate?What formats are your files?
What version of songbird?
What OS?
Where are your files located?
How are you "importing" your songs? -
Inappropriate?Hi,
I have this problem aswell. All my files are mp3 format, I am using the latest version:
Version: Songbird/0.7.0rc3 (20080814025613) XPCOMViewer/0.9a (2008072921) Build 705
Although I've had the same problem with pretty much all versions.
My O/S is vista Business
Files are located on my hard drive ( i can send you an mp3?)
I'm importing by going file > import media > and selecting a folder
Thanks for your help! -
Inappropriate?hi, i have the same problem.the songs songbird doesn't play are imported from cd to hard drive. so only songs directly downloaded from the internet are played, though all are mp3s.

Inappropriate? How did you "import" from CD?

Inappropriate?I installed the latest version ( Version: Songbird/0.7.0 (20080819112708) (2008072921) Build 716 ) and all my music is playing :s
I’m unconcerned

Inappropriate?Hi,
on my iMac (Intel) this problem persists even with the actual songbird version:
- file format is mp3
- Songbird/0.7.0 (20080819113227) (2008072921) Build 716
- OS X 10.5.4
- all mp3 files are located in a subfolder of the public folder ("all users") , that means the working ones as well as those refusing to play
- all files did exist before in this folder as mp3s,
- and in iTunes (as well as in all my other apps as e.g. FolderPlayer) they behave normally...
First I thought this could be a problem of user rights because the metadata information of the non playing files can't be edited in Songbird (warning on top of the 'title editor'). But I was wrong, the rights were o.k. (777)
Thank you for your effort. -
Inappropriate?Maybe try this?
The trick there is to disable the add-on Windows Media Playback, then restart Songbird.
I had a similar problem (some files not playing) and this worked for me.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Hi Herman,
thanks for your hint! Unfortunately, there's no Windows Media Playback addon installed : I'm on a MAC... I already disabled all addons but no way, the bug persists.
I wonder if this might be a general problem with the os x audio drivers (core audio)? Does anybody else does have this playback problem?
Thanks anyway!
I’m happy about the community, sad about the problem ;o)
