Songbird 1.12 on Ubuntu 9.04 does not play Lossless AAC
I am using Ubuntu 9.04 and the latest version of Songbird, 1.1.2 build 1042. I am unable to play any of my lossless m4a/AAC files. I have no idea how to fix this. Any suggestions?

Inappropriate?Hi kedmond.
There's no such thing as "lossless AAC". Maybe you have ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec" files? Unfortunately, we're unable to support those on linux. -
Inappropriate?Unfortunately there are lots of problems with - legally - supporting various media formats. On some platforms (like OSX), the system comes with an ALAC decoder that we can legally use - but on others, like linux, that's not the case. Sorry!

Inappropriate?I don't use Ubuntu, but look at using SoundConverter (http://soundconverter.berlios.de/). Not sure why Songbird can't support Apple Lossless; just about everything else does in Linux (like Rhythmbox, Listen, and Amarok). Annoying, but at least there are ways around it.
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?JSkier. Thanks! Somehow Songbird 1.2 (recently released at http://www.getdeb.net/app/Songbird) is fully compatible with iTunes. I can now listen to my lossless files. It makes me so happy. :-)
