Inappropriate?Songbird does not provide provide or support deb packages(not just yet!).
Where did you download .deb from?
Songbird is using GStreamer as a media core, so the source you're using could possibly have outdated gst plugins.
What's wrong with using the .tar files for installation?
You can download 1.0 builds at:
http://getsongbird.com/
I guess, you're downloading the latest nightly builds at:
http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Develope...
I would recommend you create a new profile by running
./songbird -p
in a terminal to launch Profile Manager.

Inappropriate?we have a bug open for a problem playing remote m4a files:
http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show...
I don't think that wma playback is supported in Linux.
Import is not supported either:
http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show...
But .mp3 and ogg files should play without a problem. -
Inappropriate?I found here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Son... (on ubuntu site)
Easy

Inappropriate?I'm changing the status of this one to "not a problem" because it was apparently related to the .deb package, which we don't maintain and can't fix. It looks like you got everything sorted out, though!
