I thought about doing this (starting to get into android development now actually), however, Android uses an entirely different development method (code which is similar to java), so it would be a from scratch project.
It doesn't even need to be related to songbird though, we could interact with songbird on a computer better, and add nice features..
So I guess I like this idea :D But it may be worth collaborating with an existing player instead. Pioneers of the inevitable would otherwise need to pour too many resources into this, which would slow songbird development down.
So I'd rather see us collaborate with an existing player...

Inappropriate?yes we need songbird on the android phone
because it would kill the i phone and all the closed os crap\ -
Inappropriate? You want to code it? I'm down. Hell, I'll even buy it if you want to make a profit.

I completely agree that POTI don't have the resources to devote to this-it'd have to be something from the ground up to have a true "Songbird" Android app-I don't doubt that it's possible to sync the device to Songbird, I mean Banshee's done it, so I'm sure that it's feasible to do (and may be in the works right now, or so I hope-Songbird is my favorite player & I'd love to see it move forward). Any idea of a good existing player for Android (caveat-I do not have an Android phone, I'm planning on getting one once my current phone contract runs out and I'm free to choose a new carrier/once there are more Android phones on the US market)? Would love to hear your (or anyone's) thoughts on this... -
Inappropriate?I was just curious if anyone had done this. It's good to know that the idea is out there. Open Source rules! I would love to get away from Apple products entirely.

Inappropriate?I would love to have a great "music stack" that goes Ubuntu + ? + Android, to replace Mac/Windows + iTunes + iPhone/iPod
-
Inappropriate? This seems like a no-brainer. With Android's inexplicable lack of a decent media experience, there's a real opportunity for somebody who's thought about UI (like the songbird crew!) to get in and design a slim music player app that could be completely open (though certainly geared to work with songbird - another no-brainer).
