Songbird Browser won't load my email.
I don't know why, but for some reason I always get a java error when i try to load my email at "Cyber-rights.net"
this is a really good established email that I don't want to get rid of, and I hate having 2 browsers on my machine just so I can check my email.
I don't get java errors on any other page that i visit except for cyber-rights.net...i dont understand it.
It just gives me the standard error that the website gives me when my java really IS turned off..."javascript, which is required to view this page, seems to be turned off, please turn on javascript" and this is with "no script" turned off, peer guardian turned off, and javascript enabled in songbird.
I dunno what the quark is here, but I'd appreciate it if the songbird team could look into it...if there's some kind of weird anomaly with this page, there could be more pages out there that act the same way towards songbird.
I'm running 0.7 on OS X.
Thanks guys, keep up the good work,

Inappropriate?Do you have any problems using Firefox 3?
-
No, its so weird...every other browser i've ever used works fine, including firefox and the secondary browser ive been using, Shiira...that's why this problem is so perplexing...especially since songbird is built off of firefox -
Inappropriate?Could you please post a screenshot of what you see in Songbird?
-
sure thats no problem...do you have an email I can send the screenshot to? -
No need. Just click the Add an Image button on the text box for this thread. -
Inappropriate? Can you go to about:plugins in the URL bar and verify that Java is listed?
-
Inappropriate?it doesn't look like it requires JavaScript, it looks more like java, at least from what i know, sites usually specify if you need to turn JavaScript on by saying JavaScript not simply Java - what i want to say is, Songbird may not have a Java plugin
-
Inappropriate?@ashughes - I checked where you asked, and no, java is not listed, but in my songbird options, i have java and javascript checked...do i need to install something else? OS X says it has java pre-installed and doesnt even offer an installer on their website.
@alucard - I'm trying to find out wtf is up with songbird's java plugin, or lack there of, thanks for the observation...i hope we can all get this figured out. -
The Java/JS prefs are not related to the plugin. This is merely a security pref that blocks scripts on pages.
There is a Linux Java how to here: http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Develope...
For whatever reason Songbird is not picking up the java plugin. It usually does...you may have to create a symlink in the plugins directory for Songbird.
While that guide is written for Linux, there should be some parallel on Mac. -
Inappropriate?thanks a lot for getting back to me about this ashughes...your effort and help in fixing this situation has been much appreciated.
Unfortunately, Im an OSX n00b, and I don't know jack about terminal, etc.
I guess I'm going to have to wait on Songbird until this problem is fixed in a later release, but thankfully, this post has come up and now it's something that the Songbird team can look into. I'm going to take a crack at the terminal stuff anyway (never know until you try, right?) but I'm not expecting the results to be very good.
Hopefully it can all be worked out in a future version.
thanks again -
Inappropriate?PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
F*&king awesome! Anyway, to anyone having this problem, the solution was easy. if you type "about:plugins" into the browser as I was instructed to do, you will see a link at the top offering help with plugins. Follow that link, download the Java Embedding Plugin, and stick it in your library->internet plug-ins folder.
BAM! works like a charm.
There are a lot of plugins there, and could possibly solve other problems that people might have...I suggest installing or at least reading into some of these plugins.
Peace and thanks to the Songbird team...keep up the good work. I'm excited to see v1.0!

I’m sooooo happy now.
