Songbird does not transfer music to MTP, only transfers folders
Songbird is not transferring media to my MTP device (Sony Walkman NWZ-A728) even though it had done so previously. I have not had to sync to it for several months, at which point I think I was using SB 1.1, but it worked perfectly before. Songbird still recognizes my media player and when I try to transfer songs - both syncing and manually transferring - it only adds folders and playlists. SB still recognizes all of the specs and the space remaining.
I also receive the "Media Management error" when editing metadata which I read is being fixed, so I was waiting for 1.4 to come out to see if this is related to that or another fix. Currently I use SB 1.2 and have Windows Vista, and all of the music I try to transfer is in recognized formats (mp3 or m4a).

Another issue with the Walkman NWZ-A728 has been reported as bug 18727. The bug that Alfred referenced, 18699, has been fixed. If you download the latest nightly and its MTP addon, sync should work. However, if you do run into the problem described in either bug, please add your voice (and system information) to the bug report.
Thanks!
I’m confident.

Inappropriate? It's possible that your problem is similar to http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show... which has been fixed in the trunk code and Korn 1.4 branch already.

Inappropriate?I downloaded the latest nightly build (1.4.0b3, Build 1303) and it actually didn't help my original problem. I wished I checked if I had the exact same problem described in bug 18727 (I'm pretty certain I did) because everything but the empty library is fixed, as well as several other unrelated errors (m4a now play and no Media Management error). Thanks for the quick response and the help, and I will add my stuff to the bug reports.
I’m happy that everything works better, except for my original problem

Inappropriate?Erik, the fix for bug 18699 isn't included in build 1303. Since the commit date is Nov. 8th, you'll have to grab a build after that. That's to say, you might want to try the latest trunk build (http://developer.songbirdnest.com/bui...) or the branch build (http://developer.songbirdnest.com/bui...).

Inappropriate?Ah, I just downloaded the latest trunk build of SB and MTP device add-on and it works! After reading your post and looking up some more about SB development, I realized that yes, 18699 was not in that build.

Inappropriate?I still have this problem. Unsing latest Sonbird 1.4.1357 + MTP addon, windows 7. My Sony Walkman is MWZ-A826. For me all works perfect in 1.2 on a windows Vista and in XP too, till i changed to Windows 7.
Version 1.5 of songbird is not supported by MTP addon. -
Inappropriate?Hi inakilopezgallego -
On the same page where you download the nightly build, there is a link to a directory of add-ons; the compatible revision of the MTP add-on will be in there. ^_^

Inappropriate? Will the nightly mtp build install on the beta?
-
Inappropriate?Hi Sir_Sid -
I'm not entirely sure what you mean... If you've downloaded one of the nightly builds, there's a link to a directory of add-ons from the same page. There is a compatible version of the MTP add-on in there.
Hope that helps.... -
Inappropriate?Sir_Sid, I assume that you meant 1.4.0 beta. Yes, it's possible to install the nightly addon on Songbird beta, but it's not guaranteed to work and not recommended.
