Songbird freezes up after a few minutes of playing
After the recent songbird update, the program's become unusable.
After 10 or so minutes of playing, it just freezes up. I've searched around, and other people have mentioned the whole PC freezing and looping sound - this is NOT what I have. Just the program stops responding and I have to "force quit". There is no crash reporter. I don't really know what to do now, because I loved songbird and all of the plugins, but now I have to settle with Rhythmbox.
Has there been any solutions to this problem?

Inappropriate?maybe I should add some more info.... I only have the following extra add-ons ipod, last-fm, exorcist installed. I have the program installed under a folder on my desktop and am running it as a regular user. I am using ubuntu 8.04..... what else, I have 2900 songs in the library.... the version of songbird is 7.0....

Inappropriate?oh, wait a sec, the system completely freezes, nothing unlocks it..... have tried alt+sysreq+k and alt+sysreq+ R E I S U B, system has to be reset. I don't have this problem any other time, just when songbird is running.

Inappropriate?Any errors in a console, or terminal?
Any huge memory leaks?
Try to launch songbird from the terminal:
./songbird -p
to bring up Profile Manager.
Create a new profile and start with it.
See if your problem exists with the a new profile. -
Problem was fixed with a later release -
I've reinstalled the latest version on the official site recently. getsongbird.com. Alas, freezes after several played songs. -
Inappropriate?I have observed similar behavior with songbird 1.0.0 on Windows XP. This is really scary because the player loads the system up and the entire system is frozen (was forced to pull the power plug). There was a few times I was patient enough to get the task manager fire up and get songbird killed, and the system went right back to normal!
though in my case, they don't really freeze until listening for a while (dunno how long), sometimes 15 mins, sometimes longer...

Inappropriate?I run Ubuntu 8.04 and Magnatune/Shoutcast only play for a few seconds, similar to above, before stopping & freezing up Songbird.
On starting Songbird in Terminal I get this:
(songbird-bin:12244): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot register existing type `GstRtpSsrcDemux'
(songbird-bin:12244): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_element_register: assertion `g_type_is_a (type, GST_TYPE_ELEMENT)' failed
Any ideas?
Thanks
I’m Still puzzled

Inappropriate? My songbird freezes at random times. It seems like when I am listening to a song and the ipod is connecting is when it happens most of the time.
I have 1.1.1. build 1018 with Mandriva 2009.1. The songs keep playing but I can't click on anything in Songbird. All other applications are working fine just songbird locks up.
