Songbird freezing all the time
I've been using Songbird on and off since the 0.3 release. Now, with the 1.0 series of releases, I've been gearing up to ditch iTunes completely and recently completed the move with the release of 1.2. The only problem I have is that Songbird freezes all the time on my new laptop. I'm running Vista 64-bit. I really want to be able to enjoy Songbird, so please, any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Inappropriate?tried in safe mode, same problem and no difference in performance (OSX 10.4.11 intel). the BIGGEST problem with songbird is its instability and slow response. it is frustrating to use. any "multitasking" invariably leads to a freeze and forced quit: searches while listening to music, clicking on album artists always freezes. the only reason i use songbird right now is because it plays .FLAC and works with last.fm. If iTunes could natively play .FLAC and tag them, I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Although I love the open source initiative here its just not working. As long as this basic function remains problematic, it doesn't matter how many feathers songbird has, it just won't fly.

Just wondering what version of Songbird you're using. We did have several fixes merged into a recent trunk build, so I'd recommend downloading build 1332. There are compatible add-on versions available there, too.
Other than that, my guess is that you've got a large library.... which we know has a tendency to be frustratingly slow. (This topic is the repository for those comments.)
