songbird library doesn't find all my mp3s
I have mp3 songs saved on my local harddrive that are not listed in the songbird library no matter how many time I scan for media on that drive and specific folder. Winamp and Windows Media Player both find and play these files. Any ideas?

Inappropriate?It's possible that Songbird is detecting them as duplicate Songs. Winamp and WMP do not discriminate against duplicate files. In fact, in my testing experience, I have found that WMP finds more files than actually exist.
Could you please report the following:
1. Open command prompt, go to your root music directory, type "dir *.mp3 /s"; report number of files found
2. Import the library into Songbird; report number of items in library
3. Import the library into WMP; report number of items in library
4. Import the library into Winamp; report number of items in library
5. Import the library into iTunes; report number of items in library

Inappropriate?thanks for the reply and the suggestion. I tried to dir *.mp3 /s, and the weird thing was that it found all of the music in the folder tree structure (folders within folders) however there is no listing of the particular folder that songbird won't scan. I guess I know now that if the OS command line won't report on it, than obviously songbird won't either.
I found a work around to simply select all the files that were missing in an explorer window and drag and drop them into songbird. All the files that don't exist in the library are added.

dir /s will tell you the total number of files found at the end of the search.
I was more interested in the number of files being returned. Not getting all the songs into Songbird and having to drag and drop missing ones is not desired behaviour. If this is indeed happening, then it is something we need to help you through. -
Inappropriate?Similar (same) problem here using OSX 10.4.11: is there soem sort of diagnostic i can run (in terminal perhaps?). Unfortunately, half of 6000 songs don't import, so going through them one-by-one..would...take..a...longtime...
