SongBird Modification
1)I want the program to have the ability to read album art from flacs
2)I want the program to be able to read ALL TAGS a music file has. If you don't know what that means, please install mp3 tag, load a music file, right click on it and hit "extended tags" button. Note mp3tag does not support id3 tags for aac files.
For instance, the metadata editor does not see the ALBUM ARTIST my music files are tagged with.
2a)Ability to add custom tags name in metadata editor, same as in mp3tag
If this happens, then i'll probably use songbird to create my tags on music files. Right now i'm using mp3tag for mp3 and flacs and tagscanner for aacs (mp3tag does not support id3tag on aacs)
3)I want to be able to select "ALBUM ARTIST" in the 3 columns selection windows, or any other custom tag for that matter. Since there is an infinite possibility of tags a file might have, give me, the user, the possibility to type the tag name i want to sort my music by.
Example, the 3 columns windows now are GENRE\ALBUM\ARTIST, and i want to make it Genre\Album Artist\Album, with the ability to select any type of tag i want for the 3 tags i gave u an example. I'm talking about the filter pane !

Inappropriate?Hi Bytales
1) Problem is that flac files have matadata with vorbis tags in them. They are very hard to read. So this won't be implemented in the near future (follow this: http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show...)
2) and 2a) I think there is no way to add custom tag names that are officialy recognized. There are some official tags that are also supported by songbird. But there is a way to read custom metadata, though it's not implemented yet. (http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show...)
3) You can! Just right-click on the column header and select the tag you want the tracks to be sorted.

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate?I know i can right click on the filter pane and choose Album Artist. However album artist was't an option to choose from. I have installed a metadata addon, that adds the ability to select Album Artist.
I was talking about custom metadata tags, because for instance i had my album artist data stored inside an ALBUM ARTIST tag, and songbird recognizez only the tag ALBUMARTIST as the albumartist tag. You could say ALBUM ARTIST is a custom tag.
One thing i have discovered and found extremly annoying.
The album art dispalyed by songbird is a link to a file on HDD instead of reading the COVER tag inside of each music file. My album arts are stored within this tag, and Songbird either points to a image file on HDD or a file "cached in the artwork folder for Songbird" (i couldnt find this folder)(as Stevo pointed out.)
This is a very very crude method of displaying album art and it's totaly unnaceptable for me.
Songbird should be made able to read the album art Stored within each music file under COVER tag, thats the way every music organizer program saves album arts in music files, and thats the way every other music player reads album arts, from within COVER tag inside each file. -
you know what i figured out with songbird: it`s not ready to be used as a local media player yet, there is a far far long way to be there. for playing media on the web it`s the best but for your local media stay with the rest :)
