Songbird Profiles not saving with Ubuntu 8.10
Songbird profiles won't load in Ubuntu 8.10. After a fresh install, it simply asks you to create a profile after every restart, regardless of existing profiles.
This occurs with both nightlies and 7.0

Inappropriate?Ubuntu 8.10 was just released on October 30th, so Songbird was never tested with this distro yet.
How and where do you install?
How do you launch afater installation?
What kind of dialog do you get? Can you provide a screenshot?eer
Where you able to find a profile folder Songbird2? -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the quick reply Boris!
I figured that it might not have been tested yet. Anyway, the install is in the same folder I always use, /opt/Songbird, and I usually launch using an Icon on the desktop pointed to /opt/Songbird/songbird. I tried moving the profile folder around. By default, it tries to place it in /home/(username)/ , which, due to some security changes, doesn't actually work with 8.10. So, I told it to default to /home/(username)/Documents instead. Same result (when I launch, songbird can't find the profile folder). I don't get any dialog, it just launches first to the "profile selector" menu, and it acts like I haven't even created a profile yet, every time.
Thanks again for the help. Let me know if you need any other info. -
Inappropriate?I have this same problem, 64bit ubuntu 9.04. Please help!
I’m wondering how to fix this problem!
-
Inappropriate?G'day, this is likely a permission problem.
The easiest way to fix it is to go to terminal and run "sudo chmod -R 777 ~/.songbird2". Not the cleanest solution.. But should work.
Let me know how it turns out. The newer versions of Songbird though I believe have a mechanism implemented to prevent this problem occurring. Which version of songbird are you using?
