Songbird refuses to sync non-English tracks to IPod

Songbird syncs some with English metadata to my ipod pretty well... The problem is, 3/4 of my library contains Chinese and Japanese songs, and Songbird refuses to copy those tracks to my Ipod, instead it just ignores them. What gives? Is this some kind of unicode problem?
