Songbird reinstalls every time I start it up??
Songbird reinstalls every time I open it up. This is a recent development and I'm not quite sure why it happens. It also adds a new "download" tab every time I do it, so I now have about 8. I installed from a deb. for Ubuntu so maybe that is the problem? Anyway, I am desperate! Please help! To be more specific, it doesn't have to re-import the music every time, and appears that it is already there. I did lose all my album art though (sigh). Thank you for your time and consideration and thanks for making Songbird!

Inappropriate?G'day.
Seen plenty of problems with the debs and unofficial RPM's. In fact, one distro even offered a package which didn't work at all.
I'd probably suggest giving the tar.gz a go anyway.
It may also be because it is remembering tabs or something though.. Not sure.. But try the tar.gz maybe first.
What file is in the downloads queue? -
Inappropriate?Thank you for responding so quickly! First, I have tried the tar.gz and the same thing happens. I did some research and found out that if I run songbird as root through the terminal (the tar.gz) then I can get it to work. This, of course, is annoying and time consuming (though I could just be lazy). The songbird deb i got was from getdeb.net. When I just click the icon though, it goes through install again. Oh, and I forgot to mention, when it does try to install it actually just sits there and does nothing until I tell it to cancel. Then the install screen goes away and songbird comes up, with all my songs plus the many download tabs in the left pane. It's a very strange problem I've run into.

Inappropriate?Ahh ok.. maybe its creating the library every time.. Maybe try running sudo rm -rf ~/.songbird2
That will wipe your songbird settings, and it might fix it -
Inappropriate? It appears to have worked for the time being! Thank you very much, I will update this post if the problem comes around again. You have saved my exstensive songbird library.
I’m elated
