Inappropriate?I suspect you have the MediaFlow add-on installed?
In the previous version there was a but that accidentally disabled the search function in songbird.
However the Author made an update to fix this bug about two hours ago. Take a look and install it to see if that solves you problem.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?yeah, I have media flow installed and just did the latest update. Still seems to be a problem tho. Also disabled media flow and the problem was the same.
The search works fine in the list view but not in the Media Flow or Album views. For both of these views, if I do a search then change view, the results in the new view are filtered correctly. It just doesn't work as you type in any of the views apart from list view anymore. -
Inappropriate? There is already a bug filed for MediaFlow disabling the Search here. You may fill in your email in the CC box to receive news about progress.
I couldn't find any bug reported about Album views, but I'll try to duplicate and verify your problem, then I'll get back to you.
Stay tuned!
I’m looking for a bug

Inappropriate?Lenny, thanks for the quick reply. The point I was trying to make tho is that, at least based on the behaviour I'm seeing, the bug is not just specific to the MediaFlow view - I was still seeing it with that extension disabled. Or can an extension still have an effect when disabled?
-
Inappropriate?hmm, it shouldn't affect songbird anymore once disabled.
After you'd disabled all you media views, were you unable to perform a search with filterlist and/or list aswell then? -
Inappropriate?Well, the filterlist and list views work fine with or without the MediaFlow extension enabled.
What I'm seeing is that I get the same problem (search not updating) with Album view regardless of whether I have Media Flow enabled. As I only had the 2 media views installed, I was wondering whether the problem was more general. However I have just installed the (music)photo view to see if this worked with the searches and it does, but only with Media Flow disabled.
So I guess this means that there must be a similar problem with the Album View extension as with the Media Flow extension, although (music)photo still searches ok with Album View enabled whereas it will only work with Media Flow disabled.
Incidentally, I have just checked and I am running the latest version of Media Flow but the problem is still there. Likewise with Album view
Btw, Is there somewhere more appropriate I should be posting this? this was just the first place I found that mentioned the search problem
Cheers -
Inappropriate?I've notified the Album View author about this thread to see what he has to say about this.
You can always notify the author of an extension at the appropriate add-on page as a comment, but if you're not sure whether or not there's actually some error with the add-on or songbird itself, there's nothing wrong consulting us at the getsatisfaction forum. -
Inappropriate?Do you see any errors in the Error Console (Tools>Error Console) when you search or switch Media Views?
-
Inappropriate?brilliant, thanks for your help. will wait to see what the Album View author has to say
-
Actually he just posted right before this post :-D -
d'oh - typical! ;-) -
Inappropriate?Hi. Yeah tho I don't think its too helpful - just says
Error: uncaught exception: [object StopIteration]
when I switch to Album View. Doesn't happen when i switch to the (music)photo view or either of the list views.
The error isn't thrown until all the albums are being displayed though - ie all the items appear in the Album View then the error is thrown -
Inappropriate? There was still a smaller search bug in MediaFlow if the filter panes were toggled. It should be fixed now though.
