To be honest, not real sure about this. I used to own a Blu-ray player. The reality of blu-ray is:
    1) Its rare for computers to support Blu-ray playback without cracking the protection
    2) Sony has broken support for many players. They do it at a whim, and many first generation players not made by sony have issues with new discs
    3) My mate who I sold my blu-ray player too hasn't used it for ages now. He agrees that the movies are WAY too expensive, and the only titles available are rubbish. Furthermore, the extra quality is nice, but why would someone spend 2-3x more on a movie in slightly better quality.
    4) Sony REALLY screws around consumers and companies who licence blu-ray. Apple was on the technical board for blu-ray, and the reason Apple don't support it is because even they thought the licencing is rubbish.
    5) Sony controls the player. If they don't like something about the implementation, they block it
    6) You must pay licencing costs to Sony.
    7) Blu-ray has been out for ages now, and apparently sales have totally died. Its a dead standard before it started

Sorry. But my personal opinion is that supporting Blu-ray sets us up for a lot of complaining users when things stop working, and the possibility that support would need to be removed later. We'd be better off supporting streaming internet technologies, and adding support for a online HD video store maybe.

Support DVD playback.. Yes. But Blu-ray playback, probably not. Blu-ray has to have been the most overrated technology of 2008/2009. Proof is that I have not once regretted selling my Blu-ray drive (and it is STILL a current model).

    Just my opinion though...
