Songbird too much for old machines?
I have an older machine (Pentium 4, 1 GB RAM, XP SP3). Songbird is very slow to load, and not responsive. Is there a lite version (or alternative) - maybe an older version? Foobar works fine, but doesn't seem to have the library features I'd like.
Note, I have about 15,000 FLAC and some MP3, but Songbird is really slow even before adding anything to the library. (Of course, so is MediaMonkey 3, and it's ugly to boot :-)

Inappropriate?Hey B,
I actually had the same problem until I got a new computer. I was in awe of how much better Songbird was on my new machine. The short (and bummer) answer is we don't offer a lite or old version.
I've seen other users host downloads for older versions, so you can try a google search or poke around these forums a bit. You may luck out and find one that works for you.
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?Hello,
I doubt an older version will work better though, as performance in older versions was generally worse.
In each new version, the dev's try to make the application a bit faster and reduce it's memory footprint...
However, it's strange that Songbird is slow even before adding things to the library. What exactly is slow?
I also have an older machine with about the same specs, but performance isn't that bad.
Also how much memory / CPU does Songbird use?
