I think the current theory is that the Nvidia drivers are causing problems with the libvisual Kevan. Not sure why (and that explains why not everyone is affected). There is an official bug report for the problem, but not sure when it will be fixed.

@Aitjcize. Libvisual is basically used for visualisations in music players. There is a list of players which use this library to do their flashy visualisation effects. Visualisations are those flashy animations that animate according to the music (normally with ripples and such).

Since it is mainly used by other media players though, unless you plan on using multiple media players, its unlikely its removal will be a problem (besides, you can always reinstall it). That being said, I doubt its a dependency for other players, simply a "nice toy".

i'm using ubuntu 9.10 with nvidia crad and this doesn't solve the issue for me, i tried removing lib file but songbird still fails to load
