it is not the prob with my sound or anything, can play music with vlc, and i even tried reinstalling it. using latest version btw.

G'day.I assume you are using Vista or Windows 7? Its a common problem (sometimes the windows mixer mutes Songbird). Go to the audio thingy at the right hand corner of the startbar, mixer (which songbird is open), and check if its muted..
