Stuck in full screen
I can't resize my window - it's stuck in full screen mode. I'm using Ubuntu (Hardy). I can switch to the mini player, and everything else seems to work.

Inappropriate?Thats strangely odd. Tried to hit the maximize button? Can't think of anything, that could be wrong.
-
Inappropriate?Yep - hitting the maximize button switches the icons (to the multi-window one), but in either setting the screen is maximized and attempts to resize it don't achieve anything. When hovering over the edge of the window my cursor changes to the resize cursor - when I try to drag the window smaller the screen flashes (almost like a full refresh) but stays exactly how it was.
-
Inappropriate?1. What screen resolution do you run?
2. Try to hit right click in the up-most pane and see, if you can re size it there.
3. Be sure there's only one window symbol, when you try to re size it. -
Inappropriate?I run a dual 1680x1050 resolution. Songbird takes up one of the two screens. Right clicking at the top of the screen (I assume you mean to the right of the 'Help' menu) doesn't give me a menu or anything to choose from. There's only one window symbol.
When I first installed everything worked fine - this only started about a week ago - not sure if it was a songbird or ubuntu update which caused the change. -
Inappropriate?Hm. Odd behaviour. I'll switch to ubuntu and have a look myself. Just a sec.
-
Inappropriate?Odd indeed. I found no problems with my build. Hitting the maximize button works just fine. What Version of Songbird do you run?
-
Inappropriate?0.6.1 (20080623082739) (2008052304)
I've tried restarting the app and rebooting...no change in behavior. -
Inappropriate?I'll try 0.6.1 then. Just a sec.
-
Inappropriate? When I maximize the window and then click it and try to drag it, it automagically pops back to being not maximized.
-
By just clicking somewhere on the top of the window and dragging it. -
Does your window move in any kind of way, when you hit the maximize/minimize button? Like shaking somehow or anything like that? -
Inappropriate?Uh, I'm slow today. Make a right mouse click on the system tray icon. There you should be able to "unmaximise" the app and resize it, too. Try that. If you get stuck while doing so (like me just now), hit ESC and all is well again ;-)
-
Do you have Desktop Effects enabled? -
Inappropriate?Clicking resize in the tray doesn't do anything that I can tell. Clicking maximize and unmaximize doesn't seem to have any effect either. I also can't drag the app anywhere. The window doesn't shake at all when I click the max button - the only thing I can see is the occasional app refresh where it flashes for a second. Minimize does work and so does the feathers button (taking it to the mini-player). Everything seems fully functional except for being able to resize.
-
Inappropriate? Then try this. Be sure the app isn't maximized. You can tell, when you right click in the tray and there stands maximize and not un-maximize. Then go to the boarder of songbird. Inch left, inch right (or milimeters, whatever floats your boat). There should be an arrow coming up. With that, you should be able to resize the window.
The most likely case is, that your window is paned just that big... -
Inappropriate?Like I said earlier I get the arrow coming up, by my attempts to resize don't do anything.
-
Inappropriate?It doesnt move an inch?
-
Inappropriate?Do you have compiz and some such running?
-
Inappropriate?I'm thinking at this point I may just uninstall and re-install, seems to be a pretty strange state I'm stuck in.
-
Inappropriate? It is, it is. Try to delete your profile and download a fresh Version from getsongbird.com. Then see, what that does and tell us here, if it worked. Else we will file a bug.

Inappropriate?Where is the profile info stored?

Inappropriate? Its storend in your user folder as a hidden Folder with the name
.songbird1
so its /home/"username"/.songbird1
Just delete that folder and you're done.
But BEWARE!!! All your precious settings and addons and all that are gone, when you have deleted that folder. -

Inappropriate?turkvu,
Are you in Rubberducky feather(default)? -

Inappropriate?Yep - the default feather.

Inappropriate?I also experienced this problem on Ubuntu (Hardy) and found this report. I deleted the /home/"username"/.songbird1 folder as suggested (actually .songbird2 in my case) and that seemed to resolve the problem. However, when I used the "hide buttons" to hide the top and bottom GNOME panels and maximized Songbird, Songbird again became stuck in the full screen mode.

Inappropriate?Good response, barca. Let's see, if we can get a dev in here ;-)
Else, you could go look up bugzilla and see, if there are any gnome related bugs filed, else you could just make one.
