Support libre.fm
With last.fm now closed to the masses why not start support for libre.fm, either by modifying the current last.fm player or building a new one

I don't have a lot of spare time these days so it's not likely to get official development time... but a month or two ago, I hacked up a version of the Last.fm add-on in my spare time to support scrobbling to Libre.fm. At the time the Radio APIs weren't working yet, so that won't work. If you check the Libre.fm wiki you'll find a link to my XPI for Songbird 1.2/1.3a that added that.
It won't work in the latest version of the Last.fm add-on unfortunately due to work I had to do to support Last.fm's authentication/login API.

Inappropriate? The dependance to Last.fm is a negative point.

Lastfm I think is really a great tool but nobody can predict how this will change the site or its trade policy. Therefore to have provided a way out bearing also libre.fm -
Inappropriate?I actually think SteveL might have implemented libre.fm support into the last.fm add-on(or started to).. but im not sure if/how you can get that working.. I would have to ask him.. I'll see if he can hop in here.. ;-)

Inappropriate? The link to the libre.fm wiki for several solutions to scrobble from Songbird is here:
http://bugs.libre.fm/wiki/Client_Support
Works nicely:)
I’m happy

Yes, that page is how I got here - it links directly to this page. There are some solutions, but they're hacky at best, and they avoid the point: what would give us satisfaction is for the one add-on to be generic enough to support multiple services. -

I totally agree, and in fact that is how I got to this page, too -to vote:) I totally support the idea of firsthand support for libre.fm and/or other similar services (in mentality, I mean) like jamendo, etc. so, I am also not into that hack wacky ways to handle such services. the link was just meant for a temporary solution in the meantime (as I don't know how to write one such extension of libre.fm's own:) -
