Synchronize library against musicbrainz collection
Hi, im using Songbird for six month and im very suprised in developing progress. Songbird is my player no.1 now. Its for audiophiles :)
Ok, now whats my idea. Im using Musicbrainz to organize my audio files. In tags are musicbrainz identifier. Musicbrainz is supporting something called "Collection" Some clients ( Picard, Jaikoz ) are able to add/remove releases from there. I suggest to "synchronize" songbird database with MB collection.
There is "star system" too, mayb sychronize against collection to. Then musicbrainz db will be very accurate in opinion what track is good or bad.

Inappropriate?Well, automatic metadata fetching from musicbrainz is planned to be introduced in the Isan release. This release is targetted for April.

Inappropriate?This isnt about fetching data and correct tags, but upload tags and PUIDS back to musicbrainz collection. I think this improve MB service. Maybe in future is possible to use ratings and synchronize too

Inappropriate?I really like the idea of an musicbrainz addon or integration.
The MB team wrote a detailed description of it's xml web service.
There are also some libraries for different programming languages available.
Maybe it could be configurable to disable some of it's possible features like adding the local files on hdd to it's collection in MB db.
It could work a similar way like last.fm plugin is working. There you get new elements in gui for tagging the file on last.fm or setting it to it's loved songs or banning it.
Adding folksonomy tags to a file could be done like in last.fm, maybe also using those as suggestions for mb tags.
After setting the tags those could be sent to the web and optionally saved to the file.
The rating which is included currently in songbird could also be extended/replaced. When you rate a file, the rating also could be sent to musicbrainz and additional saved to the file itself.
Last but not least also "collections" could be integrated into songbird.
It would be great if someone would pick up this request and I think many users would love it, even if they don't think yet that it could be useful.
