Thank you for not supporting PPC Macs!

I am absolutely sure I am going to catch flames for this, but I just wanted to add my support for the developers' decision to not support PPC Macs. I am currently on a Mac myself, so this is certainly not a case of Mac hatred or anything of the sort, but here is my point of view. Songbird is still in an early stage of development in my opinion, and even with the 1.0 release shows both a ton of promise and polish, and also a lot left to get done. I would MUCH rather that the developers didn't have to spend valuable time working on the PPC platform that they could much more usefully be spending on improving features and correcting bugs.

    Inappropriate?
That is an idiotic statement. There are a lot of PPC users and many of us are Songbird supporters. We are NOT willing to give up our Macs for an application that is unwilling to recognize a large portion of its fans. Songbird is available for Linux which is measurably smaller in users than PPC Macs. Why not a version for PPC Macs??

sad I’m REALLY PISSED AT THAT REMARK!

I don't think you read my comment all the way through. Furthermore, I hardly think that giving up your Mac to get Songbird would be a rational move, but consider this. The current builds of Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) don't support PPC either, and it is widely believed that that new versions of OS X aren't going to work on PPC Macs. Why? Because it doesn't make sense to devote resources to what is quickly becoming an obsolete architecture. If you want new technology, sometimes you need to upgrade your hardware. The fact that Linux has fewer users is not a relevant issue because the difference is that Linux has a FUTURE as a development platform. PPC Macs don't. There isn't a single model of Mac currently in production that is shipping with the PPC architecture, and there probably never will be again. What you are asking for is essentially the same thing as demanding that manufacturers spend time working on improving HD-DVD playback even though basically nobody makes them anymore. It might be nice to continue to be able to use the ol' HD-DVD player, but it's a waste of time for developers and companies to support obsolescence. There's no use polishing brass on the Titanic, it's still going down.
