The Support of External Harddisks
Hi everyone,
I've just downloaded Songbird yesterday and I'm really excited. After lots of problems with iTunes and Amarok I finally got the idea I'm getting somewhere.
The problem with iTunes was, that it failed to support a big music library on an external harddisk. I've asked many Apple and iTunes users, but they all said they had the same problems with moving their library from their normal harddisks to external harddisks...
iTunes crashed eventually and I'm building another library, because I lost all my music (my external harddisk deceased too... :S).
To the problem:
I'm slowly regaining all my music, but because I've a laptop, my normal diskspace won't be enough so in time, I'll have to put all my music on an external disk again. How does this work with Songbird? (And -does- it work?) Can it load everything properly without crashing? (And I'm thinking about a 40Gb library or something that size...)
I hope someone has experience with moving their existing library to an external disk (without losing playcounts etc...)

Inappropriate?My music (100GB) works just fine on my external drive. I don't have any music local to my system (a mac mini, btw). I just saw an interesting post (this one) that seemed to help with the external drive question as well. I would say if your only concern is putting your media on external drives (or networked drives, for that matter) you should be fine.
