afterdownloading Songbird (Songbird_1.2.0-1146_windows-i686-msvc8.exe) the virusscanner AVG-free comes with a popup because Songbird should be have a Trojan in it.
(see screenshot)
What h
appened, is it true, or can you explain why this is?

AVG confirmed that it's a false alarm.
Here's the reply to my report:
Unfortunately, the current virus database version may detect the
mentioned virus on some legitimate applications. We can confirm that
it is a false alarm. We would like to inform you that the false
positive will be removed in the next Definitions update. Please update
your AVG and if a new Definitions update was downloaded, check whether
the file is still detected.
If you need to restore deleted files from AVG Virus Vault you can do
it this way:
- Open AVG user interface.
- Choose "Virus Vault" option from the "History" menu.
- Locate the file that was incorrectly removed and select it (one
click).
- Click on the "Restore" button.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Inappropriate?I have the same problem - except I was able to install Songbird.
AVG Free is telling me that c:\program files\songbird\songbird-uninstall.exe is infected with "Trojan horse Generic14.BUEO"
-
Inappropriate?I was able to install it and have been using it for a while now. Said it was detected on open.
-
Inappropriate?Same problem here.
I did a quick scan with Avira AntiVir Personal Free Antivirus, which didn't find anything suspicious. So it could be a false positive.
I’m unsure
-
Inappropriate? This also popped up on my machine as of today.
-
Inappropriate?Hello again,
it seems to be a false positive indeed. I scanned the file online with virusscan.jotti.org and www.virustotal.com. Nothing was found.
I also unpacked the .exe manually and scanned the contents again with the same version of AVG free that reported the trojan. The scan found nothing.
A false positive report was sent by me to AVG.
Let's wait for their reply. -
Inappropriate?I updated my AVG 3 times and there is still a trojan being detected in songbird
-
Inappropriate? It really is looking like an AVG Specific problem as known files on READ-ONLY devices are also reporting the issue. Still playing safe till we know.
Just bizarre that if the issue is genuine, that other AV software is not reporting variants of this.
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?same issue here went to download and avg hit me up.. i'll keep a check here and let me know if anythign comes up guys.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Same problem for me too... although I haven't downloaded songbird recently...
Sent a report to AVG, I think we should all do this, perhaps then they might actually do something about it. -
Inappropriate? Also checked on the AVG site, virus encyclopedia...
http://www.avg.com/gb-en/virbase
This virus is not found, tried various spellings etc... zip, zilch, nada, nothing... -
