Turn Window-Shadow off?
Hi everybody,
I'm curious, Songbird is the only Application on my System (XP SP3), that has a drop-shadow under the Window. Does Songbird renders its own shadow, instead using the systems default settings?
Is it possible to turn the shadow off?
Thanks, Max

Hey Max,
You're running a 1.1beta right? Cause shadows weren't added until Hendrix(Bug 9234).
I did some searchin' and hackin' for you... and modified the the .js file that creates the shadows..
I just got rid of these lines in windowUtils.js:
// Check to see if shadowing is supported and enable it.
if (nativeWinMgr && nativeWinMgr.supportsShadowing)
{
nativeWinMgr.setShadowing(window, true);
}
So download the modified windowUtils.js file from here:
http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/49620/wind...
Then move (and replace) the file to this destination:
C:\Program Files\Songbird\chrome\songbird\content\songbird\scripts\
That should do it ;)
(It shouldn't break anything else in Songbird... hopefully)
I’m likeing the shadows personally...

Inappropriate?Thanks Boosh,
yeah, 1.1beta is correct.
It would be great, if you guys could add a value in about:config for the shadows, i would feel much better with this than with modified files ;)
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I want an easy option to turn window-shadows off, too. Not a hack in the files, an option in the options pane, please!
I don't like these shadows at all.
Plus they don't go well with a lot of my round-bordered skins. I could add an option to turn it off for every single skin i did, but I would prefer a general option, because it seems ridiculous to me, to add an extra option-pane for every skin that uses round corners. I would end up with 3 Option-Panes for 3 Feathers with all of them have the option "Turn shadows off". Instead there should be one general option, maybe it should even remember the setting for every skin or view.

Inappropriate?I filed Bug 15848 for you guys to track this issue ;)
@atreiu
I'm sure if you bug the dev's enough in the IRC they can put it in Isan for you ;)
I’m confident

I don't find that particularly amusing my friend. We have a lot of work to do and it's actually quite frustrating to have people poke us on IRC about one subject all the time. -
this is true... i see that a lot!! i feel your pain... dont do it atreiu!
