Inappropriate? If URL doesn't change when you switch tabs, that's a bug.
But, it works fine for me on Windows XP SP3 with the latest rc1 build 827 either using the cursor or keyboard shortcut to switch between tabs.
So, a few details might be helpful.
How do you create new tabs?
How do you switch between tabs?
Did you type the whole URL, or just a keyword, or paste it from somewhere else?
Are you using the clean profile with this rc1 build, or you installed on top of some older version? -
Inappropriate? The bug is gone when I have to restart it, because I installed some add-ons =)
But more information could be useful to u guys
I use keyboard Shortcuts for everything, create, close and switch tabs,
and i installed songbird on top of the older version (0.8) -
Inappropriate?I found out after some experimenting, that the bug is cause by add-on like firefoxes FastDial, I got rid of the bug, so i hope it will help you too.
-
Since i have installed Songbird 1.0 i didn't have this problem, but thx for the advice =) -
I never installed FastDial but I have the same address problem! -
Inappropriate?I turned off the stumbleupon bar and the same thing happened, but after reading this, I turned it back on and the address bar works again. This is definitely a bug that I'd like to see fixed.
I’m glad I figured out why this was broken.
-
Sorry my English isn't so good. What is that "stumbleupon bar"? I don't understand. -
Inappropriate?I have the same address problem!!
Doesn't matter how do I create tabs or switch them, it happens. Now I restarted my whole system (not only Songbird), but still happens. So looks like my present profile is broke down. I tried a new profile and it works well, yet. This is very annoying, because with a profile change I'll lost all of my ratings, play counting, cover art fetching (because in some case Songbird can't remember cover art; I don't know why) etc...
Last time when I had to change profile because a crash of Songbird I spent more than 5 hours to rebuild my song library. :(
Songbird 1.1.2, Build 1042 (20090331142126)
Windows XP MCE Version 2002 (SP3).
I’m very frustrated

Inappropriate?@Hiromacu;
What add-ons (if any) do you currently have installed?
You might want to read this topic. -
There were problems with Pane Buttons - Addon concerning the URL-bar?! Never heard of that before, why did nobody did a comment about this on my add-on page? More details, please! :) -
atreiu, I'm so sorry!
I've linked to the wrong add-on in the other topic :-(
It should be the "more of the same" add-on.....
Huge misstake, I'm really sorry. I'll edit that other post right away. -
No problem, I'm just glad it wasn't me ;) -
Inappropriate?@Lenny: I have these:

>> feathers <<

- YABS 1.0.2.0
I had More of the Same 1.0.4 too. After I read your post I uninstalled it, but nothing changed. Time to time appeared this problem to me before as well, but a Songbird restart solved it. But now it's turned into permanent. The last state of the Address Bar is showed all the time.
The URL Address Bar doesn't change (favicon neither) by:
- using bookmarks to open a website,
- double-clicks on tab bar to open home page,
- using home button,
- using a link on a website (opens in current tab or in a new tab),
- switch between tabs (by mouse or by shortcuts),
- reload website (by context menu or by shortcuts).
The URL Address Bar shows only what I type directly in there. If I type for example 'car', car.com website loads but the address bar shows only 'car'.
If I open a new tab using Ctrl+t shortcut or File=>New Tab menu item or context menu=>New Tab menu item an Untitled tab opens and the address bar turns into empty.
What a hell is this? Maybe I use too much add-ons! But this feature what I love in Songbird!
Ps.: Alt+Enter to open a typed URL in a new tab doesn't work too. The site opens in the current tab instead.
I’m sad!

Inappropriate?@Hiromaco;
It's tedious work, but disabling all add-ons one at the time, restart and then see if it made any difference would be the only way to be sure if an add-on is causing the problem (which I belive) and what add-on that's the troublemaker in that case.
The amount of add-on shouldn't make any difference as long as there is a "bad" one, or two plugins interfere with eachother. (Which would be extremely unfortunate)
If you feel that the amount of work is worth it I suggest you to try this, considering that we might be able to confirm and terminate the problem, preventing more users from getting the same error.
Meantime I'll look over the comments on the add-on site for your installed plugins to see if anyone else reported the same problem anywhere. -
Inappropriate?OK, I disabled all add-ons and the URL Address Bar works well! :)
I start to test witch add-on does this trouble.
Ps.: But unfortunately Alt+Enter shortcut to open a typed URL in a new tab still doesn't work (even if I try this in a new profile without any add-on). If I remember well it's worked before. Maybe it's changed in the new release.
-
Inappropriate?Really appreciate it Hiromacu! Your doing a big favor towards the whole community so we can solve this.
I've never used Alt+Enter so I don't know about that, but its possible it has been discontinued if was there before, but that would be odd... -
Inappropriate?OK guys! Huh I'm finished! This testing was too long!
First a correction: MiniPlaylist and Recommended Playlists are force installed too.
Customize Filter Pane 0.2.2, Keyboard Ratings 0.3.1.0 and (sometimes) Recommended Playlists 0.5.1.1 cause my problem. If these add-ons (all or just one of them) are enabled the URL Address Bar is stops changing.
Customize Filter Pane usually changes the URL Address Bar into 'about:blank' but sometimes just into the last showed URL.
Keyboard Ratings changes the URL Address Bar into the last showed URL.
Recommended Playlists sometimes changes the URL Address Bar into the last showed. It happened once in my old profile and once in the new one. But later completely disappeared this problem (not permanent).
I tested these add-ons in a new empty profile as well, but they do the same.
And I found something interesting:
Filter Pane (in default) has three filters but with Customize Filter Pane I can add others. I set a fourth filter, but when I disabled Customize Filter Pane that filter didn't disappear.
I have to eat something, I skipped my lunch. I feel empty. :P
-
Inappropriate?Excellent work, Hiromacu.
I've installed Customize Filter Pane 0.2.2 and Keyboard Ratings 0.3.1.0 in a clean profile, Songbird 1.1.2, Build 1042 (20090331142126) (although still with the recommended add-ons installed), to validate your result.
And it seems to be correct since I got the same effect.
However, the Keyboard Ratings is only compatible with songbird 1.1.1, so my question is if you did a forced install?
Anyway, you might want to post a comment to the Customize Filter Pane author about that fourth filter not disappearing after a disable of the add-on.
Meanwhile I'll notify the Authors of Customize Filter Pane, Keyboard Ratings and Recommended Playlists to get some response about all this. -
When I updated Songbird 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 I had to do a compatibility override. But the latest version of Customize Filter Pane is compatible with Songbird 1.1.2. It is installable.

Ok, I see that now. It shouldn't make any difference anyway. -
Inappropriate?I've patched the KeyboardRatings plugin in version 0.3.1.1 to fix this problem. In my case it was caused by having some old sample extension code that was making reference to files/code I had striped out, or something to that effect.
-
Inappropriate?@RogueStar;
Thanks for a fast reply and fix, appreciate it.
I’m having one less bug to deal with
-
Inappropriate?cleaning out my add-ons fixed this for me too, and I had customize filter-pane and music recommendations in the group that I deleted. The address bar works fine for me now. I never had the keyboard ratings add-on installed on my compy, and music recommendations had been installed for a while and never caused problems.
I’m glad this is getting figured out
