Inappropriate?Oh, and by the way The idea was that this should be made automatic from songbird , I can't imagine this being hard to code into songbird
-
Inappropriate? This works with the BBC iPlayer, Five On Demand, 4OD.
It also works with the BBC Radio stations, apart from the localized BBC Radio stations that for some reason require RealPlayer
I have tried listening to commercial radio stations that require the Windows Media Play plugin, unfortunately those don't work.
If I could get a Windows Media Player plugin for Songbird that would be excellent.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?BBC iPlayer relies entirely on Adobe Flash (apart from the localized radio as noted above), so if this works i guess all you're doing is copying the flash plugin over
Would be an easy solution to getting flash to work in songbird if true -
Inappropriate?Hasn't iPlayer always worked on Songbird? Or, looking at those paths, is this something that is Linux specific?
-
Inappropriate?because I can read my 7000 or so pdf's and listen to ambient music at the same time . It's a reading taste thing . The more noise in the room the worse, yet if the noise is ambient then you can focus + as you can see it partly works already . Ideally I would want to replace my adobe digital editions with a mozilla project . Songbird can do the cover flow + album art = pdf book + progress of read chapters .

down with adobe that's what I say, sir . Coz mp3 drm-free is only the beginning, next is pdf-drm-free and then maybe even tv-episodes-drm-free, when the songbird video plugin matures along with podcasting .
I’m passionately ideological on this one

Maybe you could just use Firefox for PDFs?
Seems like if Songbird wants to be a music player, they should focus on music (and maybe video) instead of trying to support every format under the sun. -
Inappropriate?Firefox is a browser, Songbird is an organizer . Text to speech is going to be the future of e-books and so is audiobooks . Songbird can be the one true organizer for almost all media of such sort, there lies the question why not a PDf- ebook organizer like itunes and digital editions as well . If it works fine in itunes it should work wine in Songbird . If you want only a mp3 player, use banshee and rythmbox and whatever, otherwise songbird is a media center-organizer, I believe .
In any case everyone is entitled to an opinion . I respect yours . And yes maybe the features I outline should be addons more than mainstream . Do you think that used as addons for these features might be something that we can both agree on . -
I just think a limited number of people with a limited amount of time should focus more on doing what they do best, rather than try to do everything at once. -
Inappropriate?True, there I agree . Yet sooner or later songbird will run out of audio things to code . Then these might be ideas that will come to popularity . the important thing for me is that they get scheduled as "to try to do" I myself do not have the time to code them otherwise I'd just go and try to do it myself, if anyone cared afterwards that's their business, it'd work for me .

Fair enough. I think we agree on the details, if not the philosophy :P
