Inappropriate?Wow. That's unfortunate. Although Songbird opened the PDF, It's ultimately Skreemr's fault. I hope you don't think any less of Songbird because of what happened.

Inappropriate?Ditto what Dustin said. Definitely sucks that that happened...but Skreemr is a 3rd party web-service that Songbird doesn't control. Not only that, it indexes what's on the web (just like Google)... generally it's good (I've never heard of it pointing to virus files before :(), so if you hit this situation, you should report it up to Skreemr so they can remove the virus/trojan'd file.

Inappropriate? No, I certainly don't think any less of Songbird because of that (I am actively using it on my home computer (running Linux) and computers at school (running Mac). I think I may just stay away from Skreemr on Windows for a while. Thanks to Stevel and Dustin for replying to my topic.
What are some of your ideas about possible ways to avoid viruses from Skreemr when I inevitably do have to use a Windows computer again?
And yes, I did have active virus protection running (AVG 8.0).
I’m feeling better about it.

Inappropriate?Word. I got a virtumonde strain using Skreemr. Mcafee missed it (thanks, mcaf), but Teatimer prevented it from getting too far along, by preventing registry edits. Final solution was to download Avast! I simultaneously ran avast! and spybot s&d (but make sure SBS&D does NOT set a system restore point ... the virus can hide in the restore point if that happens). After updating the virus definitions on the two programs, you want to disconnect from the internet ASAP. Virtumonde will use the connection to pull in more stuff. I dunno what "stuff," but i just remember from reading about it that it can do this.
Another note about this issue is that I don't think it will happen if you click the download button next to the song in the media pane below the web page. I think this only happens in response to clicking on the MP3 link in the Skreemr web page, because it is that action which causes the other links to open to sometimes infected items.
I’m a little pissed at Mcafee for missing it.
