watch multiple folders?
I just installed the nightly of 1.1 Beta one (great build; works w/ most addons if your override compatibility checking) and i have one question..
Is it possible to 'watch' more than one folder? For instance, monitoring removable drives

Inappropriate? It will come in the future. The integration in 1.1 is just the beginning ;-)

Inappropriate?I just had this same question and came across somewhat of a fix while I was reading another thread.
I'm using Ubuntu linux so I'm not sure this works with Windows or other distros of Linux but I'm guessing theres probably an analogous feature that will do the trick. (ie - create shortcuts in windows)
If you make one new folder, and create Links to all of your folders that you want watched and place these links in the newly created folder you should be able to see all of the music you wanted just by watching the one new folder via the dialog box in the Songbird watch folder option.
hope that helps, and I hope you songbird term is able to implement multiple folder watching soon! Kudos for adding this great feature nonetheless!!! -
Inappropriate?Sadly, for Windows, that doesn't work. Windows can't handle links, as if they would be physically there.
That's a linux thing ;-)
I’m happy to be in the linux camp here.

Can be done in Windows, using NTFS Link. http://elsdoerfer.name/=ntfslink -
Thanks for the link. I didn't know that. But sadly it works only with additional installed software.
That functionality is really awesome for cases like this and shouldn't be missing in any OS!!! -
Inappropriate? It can be done in windows XP and on, without using additional software, ONLY on a NTFS filesystem. You have to use fsutil.exe in the CMD/shell, it's a feature of the NTFS filesystem, called 'junctions'
Anyway, I personally prefer the abovementioned 'NTFS Link' to fsutil, by a large margin!

Inappropriate? This will also work in OS X if you create a symbolic link via command line, rather than a Finder alias.

Inappropriate?Trickykid. Might need to be a Hardlink..
@madagabz, you can also use administrator tools=>computer management=> Disk management and a mount.
Tested it in the past

Will OS X support hardlinking of directories? -
Haven't tested it properly on OSX unfortunately. However, not sure if Songbird recurses into Symlinks.
It may be similar to some other hacks, where you wont get live updates in those hardlinked folders, however, it will rescan them when you start Songbird (so you simply need to restart songbird to scan the extra files).
But as mentioned, haven't tested it, so I wouldn't know for sure.. -
Yes, it does scan for the tracks in a symlink when you restart Songbird. This is a great workaround until Songbird supports multiple watch folders. -
