well songbird just deleted 3/4 of my songs
well this is probably entirely my fault and i don't hold it against songbird at all but i just deleted most of my music library somehow
iTunes and songbird had both been auto-organizing the same folder at the same time and that somehow ended up making it so i had two of every song in my songbird library, so i selected them all and hit delete so i could re-add my music folder to my library
and apparently that deletes them from your hard drive, too? (that's the question part of this)
however it didn't delete all of them, for some reason.. seemingly at random i have 400 songs left, some artists were untouched and others i have one song left for; pretty weird
i'm also left with 120 something songs that are now called things like 'unknown-title-10.mp3'
zzz
and normally i would have all my songs on my ipod so i could just get them all back off of it, but i just upgraded to 3.0 and have nothing on it
zzz some more

Inappropriate?I am sorry to hear that you have lost most of your media. Songbird will delete media items if they are located under your selected Media Managed Folder and remove them from the library (if you have the Media Management feature enabled). I think we are missing the dialog that questions you if you wish to delete the files for the items you are removing from the library as well.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?^yeah, i was assuming it'd be like itunes where it asks me whether i want to keep the files and just remove from my library or send them to recycle bin (didn't even do that, completely gone :/)
luckily i uploaded most of my really hard to find/annoying to sort through stuff to mediafire awhile ago; but that still leaves about a thousand songs i have to go find again >_>
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I noted in another thread as well that when I delete files from the library with media management enabled, it removes them permanently instead of sending them to the trash/recycle bin. I think they should release an update to 1.2 to fix this so people don't start accidentally deleting files without being able to recover them.

Inappropriate?Until that dialog is implemented, and you wanna be on the safe side when managing your library:
songbird.media_management.library.delete
is the money preference in about:config to disable deleting from your hard drive..
