Where are individual playlist files located in MacOSX?
Is there any way to locate specific Songbird playlists as files within Mac OSX? I can not run my alarm clock program with Songbird, so I am trying to create an automator workflow that will open a playlist at a scheduled time. I would need to know where the specific files are stored.
(It does not seem to be here: ~/Library/Application Support/Songbird1/Profiles/<gobbledygook>.default/ as linked through this previous post: http://blog.songbirdnest.com/2008/06/... )
Thank you!</gobbledygook>

Inappropriate? There are not separate files for playlists stored in Songbird. The playlists are stored in your library.db file and service-pane.rdf contains links to the location in the db.
What you want to do would be an interesting addon and could certainly be done. The functionality does not exist natively in Songbird.

Inappropriate?Hmm, so I can't isolate those files then, is that correct?
I'll keep working on this, but maybe in the meanwhile someone more knowledgeable than me will find interest in making an add-on, or finding a way to make Songbird compatible with one of the alarm clock programs out there. (I was using this one with iTunes because it was very simple and free: http://www.robbiehanson.com/alarmcloc... )

Inappropriate? There is an add-on by compugeek32 that let's me export playlists, and I can run those files in a workflow. But the problem so far with this is that when Songbird reimports them it creates duplicates. I know this version is not supposed to allow this but it does....
I’m perplexed
-
Could you please layout in steps what you are doing to reproduce the duplicate playlists? Please indicate any addons and versions you install as well (a link to the addons would be great).
Thanks -
Inappropriate?Ok, this is the add-on: http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/51 (I'm using the most recent version for Songbird 0.7.0) Once installed, a new menu-option is available from the File drop-down menu in Songbird. I click export playlist and choose the one I want, for me, my "morning playlist." I export to a folder in my music library.
I've created a workflow that opens the playlist with Songbird when my computer wakes up in the morning. What this does is simply open the playlist with Songbird. I've tried opening the playlist without the workflow and the result is the same:
It successfully plays the playlist alright, but it also creates duplicates of the songs I've chosen from my library. Doing this again the next morning creates triplicates, and so on; and there's no function to automatically manage them.
Since no actual new media files are created in this process, just new playlists, I feel this should be controllable.... Otherwise importing playlists becomes too much trouble.
Hope this info. is enough to help, and thank you again for replying!

Inappropriate? What do you mean duplicates? You mean duplicate playlists or duplicate songs in your library?
-
Inappropriate?I'm so sorry. I think I'm clear and I'm not. It does both. It creates duplicate songs in my library. It also creates duplicate playlists. (The latter are easier to delete, so I didn't think of that.)
I’m oops. Sorry!
-
Inappropriate? And this only happens when doing this through a workflow?
-
Inappropriate? No, not at all. It happens whenever I import any playlist, whether I use the workflow or not.
-
Inappropriate?Looks like this is a known issue: http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show...
-
Inappropriate? Thanks very much, I see it. Cool.
(Question: Is it already understood that if you import it more than twice the songs show up as many times as you import them? For example I import four times, I get four copies of those songs?) -
Inappropriate?As I understand it, yes.
