Why can't I install feathers and addons?
Running Version: Songbird 1.2.0, Build 1146 (20090616030043) on Windows Server 2008 R2.
On the feathers and addon pages, when I click on the "Install" button, the install doesn't run. When I hover over the Install button on an addon, for example, the url is http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addons... instead of a link to download the xpi file.
I had a songbird xpi file on my desktop and when I had songbird open the file, it installed the addon with no problems.
I just can get the xpi to download from a browser tab in songbird itself.
Any ideas?

Inappropriate?yeah i had the same exact problem. here is what i did:
first off i gave up on tryin to install the feathers/add ons through the songbird players menu and just went through the website through mozilla firefox.. and for some reason there is a different type of download icon. when you click on the download icon through firefox instead of songbird...it will bring you to a list of all the different versions up until the most recent and what version it is compatible with.
that might be your first problem.
if not, click on what version of the download you want...and like always mozilla will ask if you want to open with or save file (similar scenario if you are using internet explorer). go ahead and save file. when you click save file, it will ask where you want to save it. browse through your computer and click on my computer, then click on your C drive...program files....songbird...extensions. make sure you save it in extensions this is important.
and for some reason after i did all of this....i had to exit out of songbird then go back in.. This is when a pop up comes up and asks if you want to download the extension(add on, feather...whatever). there was another time it just came up in my add ons menu in tools...then options. which i believe is supposed to happen. but who knows.
after that you should be good to go. im sure there is an easier way...but i hope this helps. -
Inappropriate? We accidentally broke the install button when we were adding the new locale functionality. It's fixed now.
