Inappropriate?Hmm, i am not that int windows mediaplayer but Songbird uses the id3v2 standard to embed artwork... After a quick search in the nternet i suppose that wmp uses its own solution. Sorry about that, but we cant do anything against a company (in this case microsoft) which decides to make their own proprietery solution

Ehum, you forgot to mention that songbird doesn't write the artwork to the file by default (its a good thing). go to about config and look for the boolean that handles that. Maybe you should build that into the gui.
Edit: I confirm that i am able to view the artwork placed by songbird on WMP after changing the write to files config. -
Inappropriate?Thx... Oldarney ;-) But album art should be written to the file by default:
songbird.metadata.artwork.enableWriting (is true by default) -
Inappropriate?that explains why some of my torrents were messed up... fudge. i used the amazon album art fetcher on my library...
I’m intrigued.

Inappropriate? Its because Songbird writes to ID3v2.4... For some really odd reason, microsoft has decided not to support it yet(maybe something with UTF-8), So you won't see any artwork in Windows Explorer or WMP... (it sees 2.3 tags just fine though).
weird. maybe worth an investigation sometime..

that might explain why my archos portable media player also does not show the artwork. this is really irritating as i have to go into another editor/player to download artwork. -
Inappropriate?so if you transfer stuff using wmp to your device, your artwork should still show up on the device - if it supports it.

Inappropriate?Hi,
I am using using Songbird 1.2 on Ubuntu 9.04 along with a Sony Walkman nwz-x1050.
I have updated my library in Songbird so all album artworks are embedded. It works pretty nicely. Problem is that, for some reason, the album art will not display on my walkman. apparently the only way to get it to work is by changing the tags using Windows media player (not my favorite option).
What difference is there between the tags generated by songbird and the ones generated by WMP (artwork wise)?
Can I get songbird to embbed artwork in a way that will be compliant with my Walkman?
Thanks for the help
Mat

album artworks display in Songbird but not in Sony Walkman.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?WMP doesn't embed artwork into your files by default. It downloads artwork to the files' containing folder and saves it as a hidden system file. However WMP will display embedded artwork if there is any in the file. BTW, has anyone had any difficulty with WMP automatically downloading artwork for new files when you first play them?
