Inappropriate?Hi DaleDevastation,
Is your computer going to sleep? It sounds like a setting you need to revise on your local machine, i.e. do not go to sleep when idle. Songbird can't keep playing if your computer is asleep.
I’m thinking it's an easy fix!

Inappropriate? What? I'd say she'd notice if she was walking away form her computer and it stopped playing because it went to sleep... I have a similar problem, where it stops playing after (usually) one song (and it's not because it's asleep)
It seems to be due to the "missing media files" bug: when it changes to one of these, it sticks in the beginning of the "non-song". Not sure if this is the Only reason it happens, it's hard to see the difference... Guh.
I’m frustrated AND sad.

Inappropriate?I have the exact same problem. Songbird plays 3-5 songs and then just stops playing! It's very annoying. I need to manually double click a song on my playlist to get it to startup again. This occurs no matter what I listen to.
In hopes of finding the solution I have disabled all plugins and still found the same issue occurring. I can't seem to figure this one out.
I've got to admit, Songbird initially seemed like the music player I've been waiting for. It definitely has a lot of promise, however, I've encountered so many bugs that I'm disappointed to say that I'm ready to move on to another music player. I'll check you out in another year or so.
I’m frustrated.
-
Inappropriate? No .. it stops on any song after playing 3 - 5 songs in a row. For example, it might play one song at one time yet stop on the same song another time.
The sad thing is that I have been searching HIGH and LOW for a good quality iTunes alternative and I still haven't been able to find one. I thought Songbird would be the one but it's still just too buggy.
I’m still frustrated.

Inappropriate?I' ve the same problem; It stops at different songs, all are playable by double-click. Clicking at Play/Pause dont solve the problem.
I’m hopefully but sad.

Inappropriate?Same problem ^^...... kinda anoying But OOT how get back to normal player no mini? .p have re-installed 2 times..
I’m VERY frustrated :'(
-
i guess the mini player causes this playback stoppin problem? -
Inappropriate? What version of Songbird are you running? If you aren't using 1.1.1 final, try that and tell us if you still have problems.
There's a known bug in the developer nightlies that will be fixed as soon as we rebuild the GStreamer libraries. It'll be happening any day now... -
Inappropriate?I think I'm having the same problem as Olimess, and it's frustrating so I've done a bit of testing. Using the following files, and with shuffle off:
File A: 320kbps mp3 (3:56)
File B: 236kbps mp3 (2:26)
File C: 160kbps mp3 (4:18)
If I create a playlist of A,B,C and start from A:
A plays, B plays, playback hangs on file C
If I start playing from B:
B plays, C plays
When playback hangs the interface remains responsive and I can skip to the next/previous track or select a track from the library (even the track that is hung) and that track will play normally.
This is repeatable, and occurs in safe mode. I'm using Songbird 1.1.1, Build 1018
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Glad to see that others are having this problem too ... well not glad but I'm happy to see that I'm not alone! I'm also using Songbird 1.1.1, Build 1018.
This is one of those annoying problems because it almost makes SongBird unusable. I say almost because I still haven't been able to find another alternative that's better. Kind of a pain having to double click a song to get SongBird to play again while your concentrating on something else.
I've tested this in every which way possible and haven't been able to hit on any real pattern except to say that SongBird will stop playing songs after 3-5 songs or so, just as the original post states. It seems to always stop at the end of a song and then get stuck.
Hopefully a solution to this problem will come soon!
I’m ... well you know.

Inappropriate?I do believe this is an issue with .M4A/ACC files, ive been having the same troubble. Am currently running 1.1.2. Also songbird seems to detect that some songs are in an ugly format and just skips over them completely, you would never notice this was happening untill you specify that you want to play one of these and it jumps to another song.
I’m Frustrated

Inappropriate? Also get this, Songbird just stops at the start of a file, play/pause does nothing, only Next or double clicking on the song itself will restart. Doesn't appear to be related to the screen saver, usually takes anhour or so on my system.
Using Songbird 1.1.2, Build 1042 (20090331142126)
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I like songbird a lot.
It works just like i want.
It's not costing me anything.
I have the same hang up problem.
It's a bit buggy.
I'll wait.
They'll fix it.
Thanks very much.
ppinny
I’m cool.

(I'm not sure if I've understood your comment, but I think you want to say that the bug isn't fixed in 1.0)
Why don't you upgrade to 1.2? -
Inappropriate?I'm one of the original posters who described this problem. I recently upgraded to version 1.2 and unfortunately I still have the same problem. I was hoping to see this problem disappear.
Just to clarify .... I have a huge library and all of my files are MP3. I create a playlist in SongBird and I get constant freezing after 3-5 songs. I create the same playlist with Winamp, and everything plays fine.
About the only other thing I can think of is that I am working on Web Development work as I listen to music. Perhaps I am using up too much memory with other applications that in turn affects SongBird? Some how I doubt it though since I'm sure I've tried listening to music through SongBird for the pure enjoyment of it and the problem has never gone away.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Songbird v1.2 is great in automatically updating the media library but I'm finding the same problem as DaleDevastation and Olimess.
What I was saying before was that v1.0 didn't have that problem.
I’m disappointed
-
It seems like we have different problems:
I try to summarize:
My Songbird stopped sometimes playing, this is fixed in 1.2.
Your Songbird has a problem when listening to music and using another application in foreground (Screen saver, Web development IDE), then it stops. This is since 1.2.
