Inappropriate?Ask yourself: is it worth it when they can't even bother to provide us a ppc version?
On the other hand, the source code is there, so you can compile it yourself. -

Inappropriate? To be clear, PPC Songbird is unsupported by the company. You can still find people running it and willing to support it in the Songbird community.

Inappropriate? We love the Mac, and we have several new Mac Intel machines used for active development. Unfortunately, the number of Mac PPC users has dipped below a level that makes sense for us to continue to officially support it.

Inappropriate?Someone out there has been able to build 0.7.0. See the link below. Please note, we cannot not (nor will we) support this build. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Inappropriate?I think is crazy not to have a ppc version. As a mac user I'm getting very frustrated at not being supported so soon after having bought a machine.I don't know how hard it is for songbird to build an official version but the fact that other can build it, and ' the company' advises above that it can be build by Joe Blog suggest it isn't to hard. I think it should be done.

Thanks for the feedback. FYI, we are not the only ones dropping PPC support. Apple will be leaving PPC users in the past with the next release of OS X. It is a harsh reality, but a reality nonetheless. -

Inappropriate?Because they are a team of incompetent developers!
Songbird has always been buggy on ppc macs from day one due to their lack of knowledge on the power architecture machines. Shame on them, for the ppc architecture is still strong and will keep it that way for a long time. To name a few, the Sony PS3, IBM CELL and Apple Power PC are machines based on the ppc architecture and with an increasing number of new users every day. Check the great Gentoo, Debian, Fedora, and the major BSDs communities to see what I mean.
They blame it on the lack of developers, which is totally bollocks, given the fact that there are so many people on the net who'd be willing to give their time in order to keep the ppc version alive. Proof? Just check the link above by "stevel"... I'm sure that's just one example of many others.
Kudos to those great communities mentioned above for keeping the ppc architecture alive.
I’m frustrated

Apple no longer makes PPC based devices and is dropping PPC as a supported architecture for their next version of OSX.
Sony PS3/IBM Cell is it's own architecture. It is not PPC-based. There is an emulator for PPC platforms provided for SDK purposes.
Anyway, I understand not everyone is going to like or agree with our decision to drop "official" support for PPC. It was a hard decision, but we stand behind it.
We appreciate your feedback. Feel free to check out the community build. -
Inappropriate?Forgot to mention the great Yellowdog linux...
