Will not play music
sometimes (including right now) my songbird refuses to play any music. It see all my music, but weather i double-click on the file or just click on the play button, it will not play. It has an icon next to the file like it is playing but no sound and nothing displaying in the area where the counter would be. I have verifed both sound is working the the mp3 and ogg are functioning because other programs can play the exact same files. I am using the latest "blessed Build" on 64-bit Ubuntu 8.04

Inappropriate?Does it work with 0.6? Personally, since 0.7pre is just a release candidate it is bound at least some issues remaining. File a bug report over at bugzilla so that the devs know about it and then try out 0.6.

Inappropriate?I stopped working with 0.6. Thats why upgraded.

Inappropriate?I have the same problem in both ubuntu hardy 64 and ubuntu intrepid 64

Inappropriate?Same problem. Please help

Inappropriate? This is an issue with ubuntu's sound system, when songbird refuses to play it's cause somebody else is using the soundcard (flash player, skype, lastfm, audacity, etc..)
Try closing any other app that may be using the soundcard and songbird will start playing inmediatly :)
This is an issue with ubuntu and not with songbird itself the way i see it.
But if songbird devs can do something about it it would be great!
I’m trying to help

Inappropriate?Well I use vista. I don't know if some of the watchers up there still have the problem, but I moved the music files adressess after adding them to the library. They were ghosts (Try the ghostbusters add-on)
It would be nice for songbir to say that it can't find the file in this location or something though...

Inappropriate?I am using Windows XP Service Pack 2, I have the same problem..The player does not respond at all when I click on a song in my library, where as my iTunes and other players can play..
hmm, I had this problem with my Windows Media player 11, longtime back and even now which says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player cannot support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file".
Has this got to do anything with my media player ?

Inappropriate?I had a similar problem (some files not playing, same error messages as Harsha) but found the solution here.
The trick is to disable the add-on Windows Media Playback, then restart Songbird.
Maybe worth a try?
I’m happy
