Work better with Mac OS X.
Songbird needs much better integration with OS X. Until it does, it's a second-class citizen on the OS, which is disrespectful to would-be users.
On the Mac, it's set so that left-and-right scrolling becomes up-and-down scrolling. That's ugly, because I often scroll top-right to down-bottom, and Songbird stutters something ugly when I do that. Keep scrolling up-and-down. There's no advantage to having left-and-right scrolling and it hurts the feel and operation of Songbird.
Make your controller hook up to the Mac's Play button. That's the most basic music player bit on the Mac, and tying it into the button should be pretty easy, considering it's core functionality.
Get Mac shortcut schemes. On the Mac, I should be able to control every visual aspect of the application using the keyboard, search my music using the keyboard, and so on. Shortcuts are a big part of the OS X user experience, and avoiding them is only a source of frustration.

Inappropriate? One more Mac integration issue: When you click the red x in Songbird the program shuts down (⌘Q). I think it would be better if it would just hide (⌘H) like many other applications does i.e. Firefox, VLC, iTunes, etc.
Also, I would love so see an add that puts a play/pause button in the menubar like ByteController (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/...) does for iTunes.
Cheers!
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?has there been any update with the menubar integration idea?
-
Inappropriate?I agree with all of these things. My macbook is my main computer and Songbird seems to need a little more love on OSX.
-
Inappropriate?I have to partially agree, but what I'm missing more is the menu bar integration with my current playing song for example. would be a nice addition.
Besides, songbird freezes very often, when i type in a word at the library search engine. Consider I'm using the 09 Macbook Pro 17" and i don't have a huge collection... About 9000 songs.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?I just wanted to bump this topic because Songbird still seems to have a few issues in OSX. The horizontal scrolling problem still exists, and there are still no global hotkeys, if that is what unalone was suggesting with shortcut schemes. I recently posted a topic about how the delete button does not work in Songbird on Macs, and the close button of the Songbird window still functions incorrectly.
The lack of multimedia key support has been fixed by an add-on: http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/...
However, I hope the OSX version of Songbird is given some special attention at some point in the future so that it performs a little more flawlessly. -
That wouldn't be fair to all the other OS's that would still have to deal with songbird hiccups, flautlence, and epilepsy. (bugs, high CPu usage, and freezing, not responding, and the likes) -
I was hoping that Songbird would get improved on OSX because the Windows version has already received some special treatment. For example, the Windows version is the only one that has global hotkeys. I don't think it will be unfair as long as the OSX and Linux versions are just catching up. -
Inappropriate?I think there are extensions that take care of some of these issues (the media keys on the keyboard, for example).
They should probably just be bundled by default with Mac installs.
MacBook Extras
Mac Remote Support
...just to name a few :)
I’m excited
