I'm about to start writing an Android application that would leverage the API of Songkick. My inspiration for the app are concert posters that you would see when walking the streets of a city.
I want to use your API as the primary datasource. Before I get started, I'm curious to know if you guys have any mobile plans in the works. I would hate to spend a lot of time on this only to see you guys release a similar app.

bit of patience guys - I work in mobile and know enough to appreciate that there are big differences between iOS and android so it's not just a case of clicking your fingers and porting an app over. Especially true when you consider the need for songkick to interrogate the music on a device, which has different metadata and works in a different way to iOS
Personally I'd rather the guys at Songkick took their time and produced something that rocks from the word go rather than rushed a badly ported version over from iOS. Unfortunately it is still a basic fact that companies get drawn to shiny shiny iOS first, even though Android has a far bigger adressable market. Us Droiders just need to keep being patient
And as I said above - integration with the likes of Spotify would be brilliant, you guys should definitely be speaking to them :-) -
It is very nice that it synchronizes to google calendar, and it would be nice if it will exist as an android application too.

Hey Scott,
Mobile apps are definitely something we're thinking about! There's no immediate plans for an Android app right now though, so why not send over your idea through our API request form:
http://www.songkick.com/developer/app...
Thanks,
Emily.-
ScottMuc March 12, 2010 16:56Thanks, I e-mailed a few days ago requesting an API key, but I'll re-submit using the form you've linked to.EditDeleteRemove

It would be great if you would make an android application to add and track arists on the way, also if you could add the extra function " concerts near me" so that you can see out and about if there is someting interesting going on around you ...

There is a definite void on the Android. The only good application now is Gigbox and it is limited to tracking 50 artists. I think it would be a wise move to create an Android app now before there is alot of competition.

Android handset sales now outpace iPhone sales both in the US and internationally. Bearing this in mind, as well as the rapidly increasing number of Android-powered handsets being released, it would very much make business sense to be inclusive of the fastest growing available market. Of course, as an Android phone user, i'd like to have an app with which to manage my SongKick account and buy tickets for events. So, +1 on this idea.

Hello SongKick! Great site, love it. I have one great idea though. A mobile app for android!!! It's slightly hard to navigate your site without even a mobile versiion of the website, and a App would be an amazing edition to your features.
Thanks you!

It would be absolutely amazing if Songkick made an application for the android market, when I'm not on my computer at home and I want to go on the site it takes a long time for me and sometimes I click the wrong links because of the touch screen.
It would benefit Songkick and its users to create an application for the site (:

I get too many emails to constantly check my inbox. Have you guys considered making an APP for cell phones, preferably Android? I have an HTC evo and have tried using other apps but they do not have as many bands as songkick!
Sorry if this question has been asked 1,000,000 times

I have done development work against the songkick api but not for Android yet. I could start a baseline application, throw it on github, and hopefully guide future development if others are interested in helping.
The renewed interest is motivating me to get the ball rolling :-) -

Please do ScottMuc, would be a great addition to Songkick, and to Android. Would be great to be out of an evening and get an Android notification pop up, like "That band you were listening to last night are playing across town and there's still five tickets left"/ Or if it integrated into your music player, some sort of countdown on the album cover: "playing near you in X days time"
The problem with emails and a web service, particularly if you like hundreds of bands, is that you get one every other day, and forget to book. -

We really need a SongKick Android app! It's just too difficult to track a new artist through the website when you're out and about.
A mobile version of the website at the very least would be a great improvement.
We wait in anticipation! -
-
If there were an actual application in the droid market where I could access the same information I can get on the website, while also allowing me to send reviews, that would be really awesome. Accessing an app would be much easier than sending an email.

I love that SongKick has finally launched an app for mobile phones via the iPhone! I am, however, part of the globally near 50% of mobile users that uses an Android device. When can we expect to see the amazing SongKick app?

1Hi guys, just dropping a note to reassure you that we know you Andrioders would like an app too so it's on our radar!-
Is there any way that while we're waiting we could get our accounts tagged as "Android user" so that we don't have to suffer seeing all the advertising for the iPhone app in every email we get from Songkick? It's very depressing :-)

so i think it would be a great idea if you guys created an application for the andriod and itunes market. that way people like us who use your site on a daily basis to check for new concert can do so on their cell phones.

An android app would be wicked. Guess the main challenge with Android is that less people use their phones as an mp3 player than iPhone users do - meaning it is harder to do your tracked bands magic.
Now a Songkick app that could talk to my Spotify app on my android.. that's a winner!-
Thanks for the suggestion, we'll keep that in mind for the future!

Hey guys, so, not only there isn't an android app, but now you're giving away a golden ticket that is restricted to iphone users? so unfair! :(
