I've downloaded the Songkick application for Mac but when I go to open it nothing happens.
On the instructions here - http://www.songkick.com/downloads/mac
there is no step 4. It just doesn't happen.
I read the similar problems posted months ago and clicked view then visualizer but there was no songkick option there.
Please help I love Songkick and have been looking for something like this for years, it's great! I just want all the functionality to work!!
Thanks
P.S I've reinstalled a couple of times to no avail

Hey Joel,
Thanks for the kind words :)
Sorry you're having trouble with this... could you go into your Applications folder and see if you have the Songkicker file in there?

If so, double click on it and you should find that it opens, allowing you to enter your Songkick user details. It'll then just run in the background.
Just fyi as well, the instructions you refer to about the visualiser is actually for the old version of the Songkicker and doesn't apply to this one! The new version is a stand-alone app so there's no control through iTunes.
Let me know if you find it on your mac.

Hi Emily,
Working on a Saturday?? I didn't expect a reply to this till Monday!
Thanks a lot for getting back to me so quickly but I actually came back to delete this question as I realised my own stupid error.
- I'm on OSX 10.4 so it won't work
Sorry to have wasted your time.
I've just bought 10.6 (Snow Leopard) now so when that comes I'm sure it'll work fine. That's how good Songkick is - that I'd gladly pay around £20 just so that I can use it fully.
I've not seen any ads so I'm guessing your funding comes from the ticket sellers links but this service is so good I'd subscribe but hey if you want to keep it free I'm sure lots of people appreciate it!
Thanks again,

No worries :)
Happy to hear it wasn't a bug! Unfortunately, we had to drop support for older versions of mac when we built the new version of the Songkicker. Happy to hear you've upgraded now though - let me know if you come across any problems at all when you download it.
And we have no plans to charge!
Give me a shout if you have any questions.
Thanks,

Downloading is no problem, I also can find the programm in the applications folder but cannot open it: it says the file might be damaged.
Tried it a couple of times, always the same results!

Hey m,
Sorry!! Yes there is someone here - we're usually a lot more prompt but are just coming out of a mega busy period and are just catching up now.
Could you go to 'About this Mac' for me and let me know which processor you're using:

We only support Intel, so if yours is Power PC (PPC) then that could be the problem here?
Thanks for bearing with us.

ok
thats why then
im on a powerpc g4 1.67ghz
this is the first application ever that i couldnt use on a powerpc

m - sorry but there's not a way around this right now - apologies for that, we'll see if it's affecting many other users before we decide whether to make it compatible with powerpc.
You can add artists to your Tracker manually though:

Or, if you use Last.fm you can do an import of your top50 listened to artists from there? That's on your Tracker, on the right-hand side.
Let me know if you have any other questions at all.

ive just spent about 3 hours importing all the artists manually :) so in the future an application for powerpc would be welcome. i mean every software company ive ever heard of doing apple products is making applications for powerpc, why shouldnt you follow the example?

iTunes plugin for OS X only works on Intel processors, not PPC.

Is there a download for the old Universal-compatible version still available?
My laptop is a new-ish Intel Macbook Pro, but it has a fairly small hard drive and I don't use it for music. My main computer at home is an older G5 with much larger terabyte drives, and that's where I keep my iTunes library.
From what I can tell, Songkicker has been Intel-only since version 2 or so, and that's not unreasonable (I realize there aren't as many people using G5s at this point). But if the v1 version had PPC support, and could therefore connect to iTunes and scan & upload my library (20k tracks!), I'd be willing to give it a try & risk a few glitches rather than attempt this by hand, which will basically never happen.
Otherwise, I can't use this unless & until I upgrade my main iTunes library to a new computer, which isn't going to happen for the foreseeable future. :-( -
