Why does a leading 'The' sometimes get removed or added to an artist name when I'm editing/adding an event?

@songkick trying to add a concert for the band 'Girls' but after clicking preview it keeps changing to 'The Girls' which is wrong.

Inappropriate?This is due to the fact that currently, there's no way to differentiate between two artists with the same name (the ‘the’ is superfluous and makes no difference to the artist entry in our database). Artist disambiguation is a problem we hope to deal with in the future. In the meantime, the two artists will have to share the same artist page. We know it sucks but we hope to solve it soon!

That's actually an annoying case of us having two exact duplicate artists - it's something that we're aware of and we plan to fix it soon!
