Updates and $5 of music from AmieStreet.com
We all know that no one really likes to read webpages, so we'll jump to the best part first, then explain. Here's a $5 gift card for MP3 downloads at AmieStreet.com on us!

Ok, now onto the Why's:
To make your Songza experience even better, we're making number of improvements over the next few weeks, starting today; the most notable of which is the addition of Imeem to our sources of searchable content. Hooray!
To facilitate a smooth changeover, we've gone through our catalog and replaced any non-YouTube songs with those streamed from Imeem. In doing so, we've tried our best to find an exact match, though as you can imagine this is an imperfect process: some of the songs were slightly different, or in a few instances a rare gem of a song was not available. Knowing how important your playlists are, we wanted to give YOU the final choice to determine which song would most closely match the original.
How do you replace songs on your playlist?
You'll notice that, just below your playlist, there is a section that contains a list of songs which have been temporarily removed from your playlist. To find a replacement, simply click on the song title, and we will search through our content catalog. Once you've found a good match, click on the song title and select "Add to Playlist." Note: the replacement section can be hidden and shown at any time using the "hide" and "show" buttons. We apologize, in advance, for any inconvenience this may cause, and sincerely appreciate your help in making this a smooth transition.
What's next?
Over the next few months we'll be introducing a number of new features and improvements to help you find and stream music with greater accuracy and ease. You'll be the first to know as we roll out these new features, and it's most important to us that we hear your thoughts and suggestions to improve Songza. So please don't hesitate to comment on this Get Satisfaction topic and let us know what you think.
To thank you for your patience and continued support as we implement these changes, we've got a complimentary $5.00 gift card waiting for you to spend on blissfully DRM-free MP3s at the independent music site AmieStreet.com. Our friends over at Amie Street have created a great site that helps you discover new music and fairly compensates artists for their work. You can get your $5 gift card here (in case you don't want to scroll back up):

Inappropriate?I think the player that plays songs without a video is a bad idea cos it doesnt play the songs you want to listen. For example when i play back to black from Amy Winehouse it plays ''rehab''
-
Inappropriate? Many of the songs were replaced and were different from the songs I had originally on my playlist. Is it possible to recapture those songs? Many of the songs on my playlist are those rare gems which I can't easily find through Pandora or Musicovery which is why I use Songza.
Also, the spacebar pause feature pauses and restarts songs that are streamed from Imeem. Shouldn't it just pause and not restart the song?
-
Hello gliblr,
Are the songs in question in your "playlist" or "replace" section? If they had mistakenly been replaced and not included in your "replace" section, I can move those down there for you, so it makes searching for a replacement an easier experience. Again, I apologize that we were not able to find exact matches for all of the songs in your playlist.
Kind regards,
Scott -
Sorry, I had forgotten to answer your second question:
Yes, it would be a better experience if could pause and restart the songs in a manner similar to the way that our interaction with YouTube videos work. We're currently developing on better ways to control the Imeem songs, and hope to have those released soon. -
Hi Scott,
The songs in question are in the playlist section which have been automatically replaced with the new imeem songs. Good to hear you are actively working on the pause/play problem and skipping problems too.
Thanks
Gliblr -
Inappropriate?I really don't like the new player. It never wants to move down the playlist, and sometimes the player is completely black and I can't see any of the buttons. I thought that the old player was much better.
I’m frustrated

Hi JDiDDY,
We're aware of this problem, and are working diligently to improve the auto-play functionality. -Scott -
Inappropriate?it would be great if you give the user the option of turning on/off video streaming. sometimes you just want to listen to music and video eats bandwidth.
-
Hi Ulrich,
Unfortunately, this would conflict with the YouTube Terms of Service, so it's not likely something that we'll be able to do in the near future. Still, you raise a valid point about being able to differentiate between music with and without video. Currently, songs which are from non-YouTube sources are tinted yellow, making them easy to scan in the search results. Hope that help.
Best regards,
Scott -
Inappropriate?About iMeem, you need to hook the controls of Songza into ASAP. So annoying to see two diff players at once.
Also, the $5 on Amie.St doesn't work if you've already signed up for Amie.St!
I’m meh

Hi omouse,
Thanks for your feedback. Currently, we're working to make the Imeem player integration even better and more consistent with the experience you've come to love on Songza. We hope to have those updates released very soon.
As for you question about Amie Street, it might be a good idea to contact Amie Street support directly with that request. They've been very accommodating to helping others in your same situation, who wish to claim the $5, and who already have an AS account.
Best regards,
Scott
